Criticism on art please

Free drawing for helpers.

I'm nowhere near finished with any of these, but I need a few comments with them anyway.

First one, I'm trying out pastely soft colouring, but I have no idea if it's too light. (Using a laptop so it's really hard for me to tell if it's too pale or not) I'm not too assed about criticisms on this since there isn't much to comment on, I just need to know if anything can actually be seen or not. :x

Second one, I need a reference photo. ;_; If anyone knows a reference I could use, I'd seriously appreciate it if it was posted. Are the colours alright? And is the mask at too much of a weird angle to the face? I'm pretty sure it is, but I don't know how to fix it to be honest..

Thanks for looking! *Watches herself not even complete one of these*

@Noirel: Eeee, thank you so much! I love it when people red-line my stuff, it's handy as hell. Yeah, I'm pretty confused about the mask bit myself, is it possible to sort that out without having to completely redo it? Could I just move the ears down more or something? I haven't made any edits from your suggestion, but here's my latest progress; http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a112/suama/gkdglfl.jpg I have absolutely no idea how to draw ears by the looks of things. ;_;

@iLoveHiro: Yeah, that one's still nowhere near sorted, I just needed to know what the contrast was like on other peoples' monitors. :x Thank you though!

@stratos: Yeah, I was wondering about that. I don't know if I liked it or not since it made her eyes more striking, but I guess I'll need other details to balance it out eventually.

Thanks for all the other useful comments!

Like @pinksinsftw said, the first looks fine if the light is shining directly on her face, it's just that the shadows on the hair are kinda light, but I assume it's a WIP

The second one's jawline is too wide. Your ears on a profile view should normally be smack dead center, even if the mask indicates she's looking more than a profile and going into 3/4.
Her lips and chin/neck indicate her head is tilted forward, but the bunny mask's nose and her eyes seem to suggest she's looking down. NOT VERY HELPFUL BUT ATTEMPTED FIXES

Also This is a great book you should read it.

EDIT: man you can't put up google image searches.

@pinksinsftw: Is that a little better?
@jimmyjxia: To be honest, I haven't even thought about a background. :x I usually just doodle stuff, and if I like it enough I'll develop it... But that's actually pretty rare. ._. I've added a slight cheek now, is that enough for that angle? And any chance you could help me on the back a little? I think I'm gonna have the spine coming out a little more near the bottom, but is it generally the right idea? Thanks!
@thechingsta: Too much what?

2nd one needs little more detail on the mask, and the 1st one just fine

I think it's a little to much

The second picture is a little strange on perspective. The right ear of the mask should not be extending that far right into the picture. Also, from the angle of her mouth, you should still be able to see some of her right cheek. Look in the mirror and put your face in the same perspective. You can sort of see your far-side cheek.

Kind of like this picture here shows, your cheeks can never hide

Idk about you but drawing a background before the actual subject makes it a lot easier for me o-o just something to consider. Even if it's a rough rough draft, you'll get your values mighty quick without having to think too much.

If you look at Basilmarket art, a lot of the submissions are entirely lacking of a background. Backgrounds make the atmosphere and setting! (I see that you are probably going to make one, but since this is a public post I guess other people can look at it too). They can either make or break a picture, but always make one!

I can see the hair just fine. The shading's rather pale to me.

As for the second one the jawline looks a little misshapen around the neck area.
