I'm fb friends with quite a few people from the first guild I joined (2007) as well as Maple buddies in general. I don't use fb anymore so not much contact with most of them. I do have some of them on skype though.

I don't have any friends. I can't connect with people.

I have a group of like 5 friends that I met through maple and we've all stayed friends for 2-3 years now

I've known some people online for 7 or so years. Some of them I'd trust with anything.

It's p cool, and has allowed some chance encounters. One of my friends was driving up the east coast to be involved in a small software startup in Maine, and phoned me for a place to crash one night. E-friendships are a lot more fun when you're older and have the autonomy to actually go and hang out, provided you're geographically close enough.

I've been friends with a buddy of mine for 6-7 years. We met over xbox live and I've spent more hours playing video games with him than I think anyone else.

I have two real life friends who played Maplestory, but one of them quit. The other doesn't feel like doing anything but training Zero to level 180 right now, and he never feels like hanging out on MS. Sometimes I train new characters with him, and it's fun, but I still would like to go on my main and hang out with him sometimes.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure I need to be more social and keep in touch outside of Maplestory, unless we're both online really often, or have a certain time that we're available and log on or something. I have a Facebook, but I literally never use it. I pretty much didn't add any friends except for my close family, and I mainly just use the account for softwares that I can sign into with Facebook. But I do have a Gmail/Google+ account that I occasionally go on.
If you could really be my friend, that would be really nice

No, I've never made friends with random online people. When I first started playing Maple, I had three IRL people to play with, so I never had to make online buddies.
And now, I just don't have the time or concentration.

None that I talk to on a daily basis or even monthly for a fact. I hate starting convos so noone ever talks to me lol.

@metaghost4 wow. you really care for her dont you. shes so lucky to have a friend like you even if she doesnt know that yet. i really wish you the best of luck with your plans, and i hope everything works out for her. she sounds like a great person

Met my online-turned-real-life best friend back in year 6 on a private maple server lol. We were maple besties haha for 6 months and found out that we actually lived in the same city, only ~15 mins apart. Turns out we made it into the same high school and were in the same class for the next 4 years. 6 year friendship still going strong

As for actual online friends, I've been close with some from tumblr for 2 years and have even met them randomly since I recognised their faces from photos. Feels almost surreal whenever that happens.

I met a friend on AOL in 6th grade-ish. I was ~12 then, 22 now. Hoping on meeting her this summer when I take my road trip to Ohio (from WI) for Geopalooza might as well just drive to Buffalo. ;D

I have 1 online friend, well...i've met him online on a tv-show forum about 12 years ago but we see each other in real life. I live near the beach so he usually stays for a few days during the summer

I've known my best friend online for 6 years. We met at LPQ back in the day. We talk all the time; we've even shared a Basil account persona. <3

Several of my friends I've met on Maple and Cabal Online, I've known for years. Slowly though they do fall out of contact. Some of them I have on FB (that I never use), others I have on Xbox Live. My friends from Cabal especially were really cool because we had a tight knit guild with our own forums and ventrillo client, so I feel like I really knew them, since I heard their voices for years and have seen pictures to go with said voices. Sadly, we all slowly stopped playing though.

But yeah friends are the same way online or in person. Some come and go, while some last for a surprisingly long time and end up being really good friends.

@FruityCake your assumption is correct. MAYBE the reason why u lose all ur friends is becaaause you dont use other social networks and therefore cant keep in touch. in maple so many ppl quit/join/leave/join again/barely come on so its not the BEST place to keep a friendship

I wish I did have an everlasting online friend. I sometimes find and make good online friends on Maplestory, mostly, because I don't go on other social network and websites as much. Anyway, I sometimes just end up hanging out with some good people for a few hours, and decide to buddy them, and start hanging out with them for a few days after if I have time. But eventually, they, or I, don't have much time to play Maplestory, or just aren't online at the same time anymore, and we just forget about each other. So it's just sad how I can only make an online MS friendship last two weeks, at most.

I've known most of my online friends for about 2-4 years.

I have two that I've known for about four, maybe five years now, and still talk to occasionally.
Another three that I've known for about two or three years and still talk to a lot.
A lot of Maple buddies come and go for me, but those that I keep in contact with certainly are worth it.

I have no actual online friends.

One for 7 years, just a bit close and we talk about our daily life, he's a father now. (Maple buddy, although he quit when he got married)
The other one, it's been 3 years only. Not too close, but she's fun. (Other game)
