Root Abyss The World Tree
Hello everyone!
I know Root Abyss is based off of the World Tree, which I know is somehow significant, so I googled it.
Taken from the [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_tree]World Tree Wikipedia article[/url]:
[i]Creatures live within Yggdrasil, including the harts Dainn, Dvalinn, Duneyrr and Durapror, an unnamed eagle, the squirrel Ratatoskr and the wyrm Niohoggr.[/i]
The Yggdrasil is the World Tree in Norse mythology, and that's where the Yggdrasil runes get their name. It also seems that the Root Abyss bosses are corrupted versions of these inhabitants.

The 4 Harts are the 4 faces of the Crimson Queen
The Unnamed Eagle is Von Bon
The Squirrel Ratatoskr is Pierre (?)
The Wyrm Niohoggr is Vellum.

Well this is cool. I figured it had something to do with Norse mythology because "yggdrasil" sounded Norse to me.
I'm personally fascinated by the world's mythologies and I believe I have briefly read about it on Wikipedia. I believe "drasil" means "horse" in old Norse. Don't remember what "ygg" means.
Anywho, as usual, Nexon draws much of its inspiration from mythologies, folk tales, and religious stories. It's pretty damn fascinating though when you learn/figure out that a story was based on some text/tale from the real world.
You know what else is interesting? Zakum is Mayan mythology. Apparently, if you eat the fruit from his branches, your stomach with burn for eternity because the Zakum tree only grows in the underworld. Also, the Zakum mask you get from the boss apparently represents the god Tlaloc from Aztec mythology

what im curious is what was the trap that was set for cygnus to get corrupted there?
I remember reading about this a while back on some forums I browsed. It's pretty cool how Nexon took some ideas from Norse mythology.
Probably why I love Root Abyss so much.
