I've seen quite a few people, on this site even, who go out of their way just to ridicule people for their beliefs. Someone can be wrong without constant battering for it.
In your defense, though, there are also a good number of people (also on this site) who go out of their way to try to shove their beliefs down everyone's throat, which to me is equally annoying if not more annoying.
