whats the difference between

So, I was trying to give my friend advice on switching his major from psychology to something in business, but he's not sure if he wants to go to finance or account. Personally, I really don't know the difference finance and accounting (or what kinda jobs you get after college), so what are their differences?

Finance is where the money is at and the jobs are a lot more exciting and fast paced, and from what I heard, you work with some really smart people who also enjoy the rush.

Accounting is recording and reporting accounting records. Finance on the other hand focuses on monetary resources and ensuring the most effective use of money.

finance is pretty general, there's a variety of things you can do with a degree in that domain. My boyfriend has a finance degree and economics certificate. He used to be a financial analysis and now he's a portfolio analysis, which is more economics. He goes to tons of meetings and gets to travel. Tons of people from across Canada go to his firm and he gets to meet some total geniuses.

Accountants pretty much just crunch numbers all day. You can look forward to making six digits pretty early in your career but you need to have the mind for it. I think the majority of accountants hate what they do, but the salary makes it worth while.

These are just my speculations, I could be wrong but that should give you a general idea.

finance sounds like you can make more money. Pick that.

Or possibly the poster's friend asked him/her to help decide on a major. Don't be ignorant and hypocritical because you right now are telling the poster what to do. Just stop.

You may ask guidance counselors at the school.
