Mage

Easiest Mage Line?

Hi guys, my friends and I are starting brand new in a server and we've decided to designate me as mage. I've never really played the classes before and I know very little about it. Which one of these classes are the best?

I guess best is a bit too broad, I guess the class I am looking for is something that is mostly efficient. Usually I like fun, unique, and interesting classes but I just want a job that can carry my party, rather through raw mobbing/bossing power or support. Grinding honestly is a bore, and I really dislike it. In your opinion, out of these three classes, which one can make MS the easiest?

Please tell me your opinions and experiences on these classes. Thanks in advance!

@rs567: You're right, I underestimated it too much.
In terms of how far it can reach (range) i know for fact it is al least a good as AR, if not a bit better (judging by the gollux eyes stage)

@natty2: I have next to no experience with bishop skills, so I'll take your word for it. But I still think you're drastically underestimating fire poison mobbing capabilities. In terms of training at HoH (where most high level players train), paralyze works quite well on a solo platform if you stand in the middle and spam off to the sides. Even if you don't 1 or 2 hit the mobs, it's still pretty decent and can reach most of the mobs barring those at the very ends.

They may not be the best, but they definitely don't "sux hard." That's all I'm trying to say.

@rs567: Except lightning chain is much more efficient, and Big Bang has a REALLY short animation time, backed up by a pretty good range of attack, AND the ability to be casted while in the air (making it an amzing mobbing skill, for attacking while moving forward, maxing out the training efficiency).
Paralyze isn't enough to OHKO most high leveled mobs, even when you count in Ifrit, and the fire circle.
Sometimes, even funded people need 2~3 hits to kill a mixed golem / HoH mobs,
and also, even though Paralyze has a medium-above avarage casting speed, it has a medium-low attack power, and a set range that isn't too useful for training.
If it would attack directly to front AND below, it would be good enough to surpass I/L AT LEAST IMO.
@Deadly1337: F/P are amazing, and probably the strongest bosser not only amoung the three explorer mages, but even among many other classes.
F/P is amazing at bossing, it has so much power in a 1V1 match, due to incredible DPS.
But it sux hard when it comes to mobbing. Really.
Out of the three explorer mages, Bishop is the best.
Personally, I actually enjoy training on my fire poison more than I my ice lightning. Paralyze just seems like a smoother skill overall, and the fact that it hits more monsters (albeit just 1 more, I think) just adds to the efficiency. Add in inferno aura and you've got yourself a pretty decent mobber.

I got my Bishop to 130 solo mobbing with angel ray and big bang allowing quick cast genesis. They are great for support and damage and I found them fun now after the rework.

If you dislike training, it's purely bishop. You can pretty much just leech off of everyone in third job by providing leech. Though, their skills make you want to attack because they are some of the nicest animations in the game imo.

Though, if for some reason you don't want to grind through 1st and 2nd job, you also have a few more choices.
IL, FP, Luminous, BaM, Beast Tamer, and Kannas.

IL and luminous are based more on training so I don't think these are the classes for you.
If you ever want to boss later on, you should look at FP and Battle Mages! They're the better bossers of the mages and the grind isn't too bad for either of them imo. FP is building up a bunch of skills to get great damage, and BaM is already great damage by default, though repetitive.
Beast Tamers and Kannas are also two great support classes. One providing alot of buffs and the other providing a bunch of spawn. In fourth job, they both generally just leech. I find training a Beast tamer to be more fun than Kannas though, but it's just my opinion.

Overall, if you're looking for support, go with Beast Tamer, Bishop, or Kanna.
Bossing? Battle mage, FP, Bishop.
Training? Any of the classes are fine but Luminous is the best.

Party support would be the cleric/priest/bishop branch of explorer mages. Mmmm that HS.
