Yuck, this better be reality. If I'm living in a dream void of monsters and magic and dinosaurs I'll kill myself.

It's funny I run into this thread as I'm playing FFIX atm and Vivi's thing is "How do you prove you exist? Maybe we don't exist." The simple fact that we are aware proves that we exist. Even if we were dreams, or something else, we are conscience of the fact that we just are. Who's to say dreams aren't real? They're very real experiences created by our brains when our minds are relaxed and unfocused on the physical plane.

nothing is true, everything is permitted

learn the meaning and you shall have your answer

OT: you can't really prove it you know its just something you feel inside you, i mean you just know you exist, another example of something like this happening would be love or hate you know you love or hate that person, and yet you can't prove it up to a limited degree

No, especially when you can't really define existence. Does simply being in a computer simulation mean that we don't exist?

I actually was reading an article this morning about how they may be able to potentially prove that we don't exist inside a computer simulation, but it's still purely theoretical.
Whatever we are, we appear to exist in a system which behaves according to a static set of parameters (the laws of physics); and there is strong evidence that the universe has been following these laws since time began. Therefore, heuristically, it's more sensible to assume that it will continue following these laws into the foreseeable future as well.
we've started gathering this kind of information just 600 years ago. it is too early to make assumptions like those

and @fraddBS thats a fallacy

I'm sorry, but unless you're a philosophy-class taker like one of my roommates, you aren't qualified to ask questions that you can't even answer yourself.
@tapstapito: Is it arrogant to believe that the maple world was created for us, the players?
no. but if the universe is really infinite, then maple world is infinite times smaller and more simple than our universe
if it is just really really really really really big, then maple world is "really really really really really big" times smaller and more simple than our universe

dude, its big my answer will be even bigger...
i'll not argue just expose my thoughts.

i'm materialist so most of what you said sounds fake to me. but "there's no individuals, we're all technically the same being just reincarnated throughout time and existence." this is the part i disagree the most: i mean we are not bees we live in society not in colony. we have our individualities and stuff.

and i dont see the world this teleological. i mean we are sooooo small and the whole universe is meant to be our "incubator" only? that sound a lot arogant.

sorry for being too short it's almost 1AM here.

A crazy person's reality is different form a "normal" person's

you might have been brainwashed by aliens or some evil organization, and how? they keep it a secret.

After much deliberation i concluded; i can provide evidence for my existence but i can't prove it.

whether we truly exist or not is simply not for us to decide but is for others to confirm just as if a tree branch falls in the middle of a forest and no one is around to hear it, the sound may resound but does not exists to others unless there was a person to confirm or witness the events happening. That is just how us humans are: we are ignorant mass of a social species with a extremely large spectrum that gauges our curiosity to discover, confirm, or banish from the depths of our minds. Therefore we get the phrase, seeing is believing because an event only exists in the minds of those who witness and confirm its existence.

My psychology teacher once told us this and we kind of went a little philosophical with it We eventually ended up with this question: How can you prove you aren't currently laying down on a bed sleeping while some mad scientists are picking your brain, creating this world for you?
"Well I don't remember getting captured" They could've easily erased that memory.
"Pretty sure that's not possible to erase a memory so easily" How would you know? The scientist picking in your brain could of easily manipulated your brain to think that.

@tapstapito: Computers can't handle particles x1000 the size of an atom in simple shapes like triangle prisms. There's no way they could handle this type of simulation.
