winter boots thread

I'm on the hunt for winter boots and I'm having a rough time..
I really want these but I've heard that Red Wing boots run a bit narrow and I have wide feet so I'm hesitant to get them. Guess I'll have to trek over to the Red Wing shop and check them out

Anyone know of a boot comparable to the beckman? Or do you have any other boots you'd like to recommend?

What will you be donning on your feet this winter, Basil?

I live with polar bears so those boots seriously won't work.
Some black leather boots with wool inlinings and a insoles to raise it off the ground. That's actually necessary. It was -39Cish last winter.

ll bean boots are notoriously good for harsh weather and are pretty affordable, but the aesthetic is controversial to many people. just based on the boots you're considering, i think the bean boots would work better than the timbs. plus, the j crew shoe collabs never go on sale online, so you're going to end up paying msrp or you'll have to constantly check in stores for a sale. i hear the red wings are better than the wolverines in terms of traction and moisture retention.

disclaimer: i live in la so i will never have a true winter, meaning that i'll be wearing suede uppers and crepe soles for the rest of winter.

I have a pair of boots from hushpuppies, also a pair of sperry boots. I bought a pair of palladiums a year or two ago, it gets very cold and snowy in my part of Canada! I know a lot of people wear Sorels, but I personally don't think my outfits co-ordinate well enough with those boots haha.

@luckysausage well aren't you lucky then lol
@thotsrus @punx looking to invest in something with a goodyear welt and higher quality leather than what docs and timbs offer, which is why i'm leaning more toward the likes of red wing, alden, or wolverine 1000 milers.. i'll look to see if these brands make chelseas and try 'em on though, thanks you two
@Sojin yep, I agree.. it's not even december in NYC and weather will soon be dropping below freezing

Not Uggs, they're too ugg-ly and I'm too poor to afford them. I'll just be wearing my normal shoes and pray I don't drown in the snow.
Yay for the winter season in the north...
