Thunderbreaker tips/help

I came back to my thunder breaker after awhile, and i noticed how different he is after the revamp. I've practiced a lot with combos yet i always feel like im doing something wrong. He feels very clunky and his thunderbolt skill i feel just doesnt belong with him because its stationary and i get knocked back a lot off of ledges, which completely mess me up. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd job have very fluid and fun skills, but i feel like in 4th job it just gets weird with thunderbolt being one of your main skills. I figured I was doing something wrong. Other players suggest thunderbolt + ascension for mobbing, however i feel like thunderbolt + shark kick is much faster because ascension launches you into the air and you have to wait until you drop before you can use thunderbolt again. I still feel like there is something im doing wrong. I realize the new TB is very skill based, but ive played a variety of classes for a long time.
Also, I feel like he's pretty much all about using that arc charger (i think thats what its called). However, it has such a long cooldown. Gale is confusing too, do you just use it as soon as its cooled down and has 2 lightning buffs? Or is there a specific situation where gale is the most useful? And another thing: how should i utilize that teleport skill?
I like lightning based classes as well as pirates, so thunderbreaker is great, however he changed a lot in the revamp and is more about water than anything.

Any help would be great. Tips, tricks, anything. Keyboard layout with explanation would be helpful too, since i just put them in one long line. Its arranged in a way that it would work as a giant combo. Shark kick, that tidal wave skill that pushes enemies, ascension, thunder, thunderbolt. Im not sure if that would be beneficial as an actual combo, however i played around with it. Thats just the way that I layout the skills.
