Questions from a returning player

Hey guys, just decided to start playing MS again and I wondered if someone would be kind enough to fill me in on what happened. I think the last thing that was happening when I was playing was that Phantoms were announced. Also, if someone could link me to a DPS or even just tell me what the best classes are right now that'd be great too.
Thanks guys.
Wow thanks man, that's basically exactly what I needed. All my characters are in Windia, but I'll definitely consider moving to broa.

@Spidermonk3y thanks man. Are any of those link skills worth trying to get?
Heres a link skill guide: http://www.basilmarket.com/MapleStory-Guide-Link-Skills-and-How-to-Use-Them-Efficiently-445.html

Link skills upgrade at level 120, and level 210. You can give them to other characters starting at level 60.
Here are my suggestions for link skills:

Mercedes - Bonus EXP
Kanna - Bonus damage
Demon avenger - Bonus damage
Demon slayer - Bonus damage to bosses
Luminous - Enemy defense ignored
(If you play a demon slayer: Kaiser and Cannoneer - %hp)
Xenon - %all stat (Dont get this if you plan on maining a demon slayer)
Phantom - %crit chance
Since phantoms:

Luminous have come out - They are a dark and light mage that have EXTREME mobbing potential
Kaisers have come out - They're dragon warriors, who currently have the highest dps in the game, because they can transform into a dragon
Angelic busters have come out - They are autolocked to girls and use all pink attacks. They have decently high dps
Kannas came out - These are dark mages, that use close range attacks, but have extreme mobbing potential.
Hayatos came out - These are samurais. They have one of the farthest ranges for warriors, and are very mobile.
Demon Avengers have come out - They are Demon Slayers, but attack faster, have different skills, and use hp (very easy to fund)
Xenons have come out - These are the most OP class right now and the easiest to fund. I know I said kaisers have the highest dps, but that is only funded. Xenons are easy to fund because they use 3 main stats, so getting 6%all stat for them is like getting 18% int on a mage.

Hyper skills came out.
Hyper skills are skills that almost every class get from level 150-200. (Jetts, kannas, and hayatos dont have hypers.)
Every class's hyper skills are different, except for the stat changing hyper skills. By this i mean hyper skills that increase your int, dex, luk, str, hp, mp, fury(demon slayer), movement speed, jump, accuracy, and avoidability.

Third job was moved to 60, and 4th job was moved to level 100.

Lhc, and the haunted mansion were nerfed, and are no longer viable training areas.
Level cap was increased to 250.
Meso cap was increased to 10b.

Training goes like this:
1-10: Tutorial or skip the tutorial
10-20: Blue ribbon pigs in nautilus
20-30: Flame mixed golems near henesys
30-35: Click the nerdy kids face on the left side of the screen and complete all the quests under "Recommended, Required, and know-how". After that, you can level up from level 30-35 instantly by pressing the "to next level" button that appears. We will call this "Tot's auto-leveling".
35-40: New ellinia theme dungeon
40-45: Golden beach theme dungeon
45-50: Tot's autoleveling
50-55: Riena Strait theme dungeon
55-58: Ludi PQ
58-60 Tots autoleveling
60-70 Sandrats and scorpions near magitia/Ludi pq
70-100 Romeo and juliet pq, but stop at the room with roids and train there until 6 minutes left. At 6 minute left, finish the pq
IF you dont like pqs from 70-100,
70-90 Roids and Neo huroids in magitia
90-100 Captains and krus in herb town
100-140: The new evolution world. Use the "Hp x# core, Level +# core, and Mob population ##% core" and train at link #3. For more details go to my guide here, http://www.basilmarket.com/MapleStory-Guide-Evolution-World-Guide-453.html
140-165: Dimensional Invasion pq. Just run through it and complete it
165-180: Drill hall 2 in stronghold (get there through Temple of time)
180-195: Hall of honor in stronghold
195-250: Future mixed golems in Future Perion (stronghold)

Tempest Sets came out. This is a set of level 100 equips that give a set bonus. They aren't that great. Though, the ring, belt, pendant, and shoulders are good. The average player has each of those 4 good equips with 6-12% of their main stat (str, dex, int, luk, or hp). 6% prices go like this(average). Ring-50m. Belt-30m. Pendant-40m. Shoulder-55m. %hp is cheaper than the rest, and go like this: Ring-25m. Belt-15m. Pendant-20m. Shoulder-30m

The game has become a lot easily over time, and if you need any help, feel free to start a character in broa, and add SCdemon27 to your buddy list. I can help guide you.
Well, a lot of the classes are blocked atm. Right now, you can only make adventurers, resistance, cygnus knights (dawn warrior, wind archer, and thunder breaker got a revamp and are the only CKs available), Dual bladers, canonneers (their link skill gives all stat boost), jett (random stat boost), and mihile (stance buff link). I think thats it for now O_O. I don't know when they will open up all classes for creation again >__>. Oh, Demon Avengers also came out. Its like Demon Slayer, but it only uses HP and its more angsty with its voice overs =_=

EDIT: I forgot to add, cygnus knights were revamped. Blaze wizards and night walkers can't be made, and cygnus knights now go up to level 250 like normal classes.
Wind archers - Fast attacked class. They don't mob very well though.
Thunder breaks - High attack speed, due to these factors:
-Knuckler booster
-Speed infusion(raises the entire party's attack speed)
-Thunder breakers can chain attacks together. This removes the attacking delay after each attack
Dawn warriors - Their attacks hit many times. Also, they have two different modes. Soul, and lunar (I think those are them). All of their attacks change when you switch modes
