Most people are playing it because D2 was part of their childhood.

That applies to me as well. I rather enjoyed D2 and D2LOD.

I'm currently on Act 2 of D3 and I would say I'm rather impressed with pretty much everything the game has to offer at the moment.

My only complaint would be just how much you're babied in the beginning, but seeing as how tough the mobs are along with the fact that the biggest goal for most players is getting through normal mode to get to hell/inferno mode. I would say it's not so bad.

D3 can really be it's on game in the sense that you really don't need to play D2 to understand what is going on. The game play is completely different in comparison.

I played diablo 2 as a kid and i enjoyed it very much. so I want to continue playing the sequel. Just like I did with sc1/2

never was a hardcore pc gamer
so im not going to buy it, maybe try it out at friend house

I quitted MS for Diablo 3. I played the Diablo franchise started from Diablo 1 in 1996. I go way back compared to most of you guys. Diablo franchise overall makes Maplestory looks like Shovelware. Besides Maplestory IS a marketing scam.

Maplestory has pay to win, Diablo 3 has auctions house BUT you can find everything yourself. Maplestory you stay in one area grinding yourself to level 200 and has a boring endgame. Diablo franchise has a better endgame at the final difficulty which makes all monster in all areas of the game can kill you if your not careful. Maplestory is a decent game but it has no great endgame compared to Diablo franchise.

Besides Maplestory took ideas of Potentials,Set items, socketed items, and uber bosses from the Diablo franchise.

thing is, all you said applies to maple story. Repetitive questing game. No pvp. Once you've done all the interesting quest/ boss you get bored and just quit.
Mts/nx. promoting a pay to win environement. Game environment and combat system is as easy as punching your keyboard for hours...
