The people the US soldiers are fighting are just a bunch of rag-tag factions.

Factions. They are not fighting for their country, they are fighting for their own dominance in the region that just so happens to have a bunch of US soldiers in as well who happen to currently be the biggest threat to their power struggle.

What's going to happen when the US soldiers leave? You'll be seeing a power vacuum with a whole lot of factions killing each other and their own people as they do now to attack the Americans anyways.
They are nothing more than scum-bags who themselves would gladly go to another country to kill other human beings who have different views would they be in the position to do so.

And all those poor people who don't want anything to do with one regime or another are the victims. You're a fool. (and of course those people for the most part want nothing to do with the US as well)
