Files strangely copying into my temp folder

every few days or so i get a popup saying i am running low on disk space. after the first time of searching frantically i found out what it was, some program was copying the contents of one specific folder on my hard drive everytime to my temp folder.
i cant just delete the folder because it holds upwards of 98gbs worth of zipped data (my manga backups because books tear easy).
i used avira antivurs and malwarebytes antimalware and scanned the folder (it even scans into each zip file) and my entire computer both showed it as clean.
a thing i should note is the only way i seem to stop the copying is by killing explorer and then restarting it.

Any ideas as to what is causing this problem? i think its also responsible for recent slowdown and semi constant freezing of my laptop occuring lately
its a compaq c727us laptop running vista sp2.
everything i tried so far: i know its not the program i use to manage the files as i tried uninstallling it completely and even doing a registry cleanup and registry defrag,
did a disk cleanup, disk wipe and defrag

renaming the folder seemed to work,
there hasn't been a repeat of the events yet
no program showed any error
but still i can only ponder at the cause

Those two files are log files, and can't be deleted because they're open for updating by the original applications that created them.

afurladvisor.log is apparently related to HotSpot Shield, and FXSAPIDebugLogFile.txt is related to the Microsoft FAX service. (No clue why that last one has to be running, but it shows up for lots of other people as well).

Neither of them should have any relation to the problem of those files being copied into Temp.

The only thing I can think of is maybe ComicRack has some kind of "backup" option that's turned on and is trying to make a "spare" copy of all 98GB of those files.

What program do you use to "manage" these zipped files..? (Why do they need any "management"..?)

Is that program completely uninstalled now, and this behavior continues..?

Try renaming the folder to something different just temporarily and see if it continues to be copied to Temp. If something is doing this, it may error out because it can't find the original folder and give some indication of what is doing it, in the error message.
