To mods: Can you, uh, mod more?

Seriously, my reports take a few days to be handled. There's really no excuse for taking so long. I realize that Eto and Eevee are on break, but still, that's two gone out of ten, and this has been a problem that I've been seeing for the longest time now. This is really getting on my nerves, so I'll ignorantly answer excuses I see coming later on.

If they're really urgent, just PM it to us and we'll deal with it.
That's not the problem. The problem is that, from my observations, no one is touching the report queue (considering reports I've sent several days ago that just now got dealt with), and by now it's probably filled up with hundreds, maybe close to a thousand, reports.

I don't trust my moderating when I'm in a bad mood/sick/whatever.
Unless you're all feeling blue, I'm not taking that excuse.

We all have lives. We can't be moderating 24/7.
You have the time to post on the forums, so you have the time to tackle at least a little bit of the queue. I notice that many of you are online and post on the forums frequently, but that time should be spent emptying out the queue. Yeah, connecting with the community is great, but not when you let the queue fill up to an obnoxiously large number.

I'm gonna be rather blunt: you guys are mods, so... mod more. Y'all insist that you're doing a fine job, but I'm not seeing it right now. Please prove me wrong.

This isn't really a topic for discussion. All reports will be handled eventually. Tough cookie if it's taking too long for you. As malapo mentioned, if Basilers didn't break the rules so much, then the reports would all be handled quicker.

Hey. I have an idea! Let's make Panicka a mod! i'm sure he'll clear out those reports in no time...

... *three days later, half of basilmarket is suspended...*

But yeah I think some of us probably feel overwhelmed at times with the report box.. it's amount I mean.. and with who handles it sometimes. Unfortunately in my case, I badly burnt myself out a couple of months ago where I had spent a few days in a row spending 5-7 hours on reports.. still burnt out or not, 750 is a disgusting amount. It usually never gets this high.. and poor Zora, it's just me and her here it seems so I'm gonna roll up my sleeves and get to work.
Hey! I'm here too. I've been here the whole time. I managed to clear up about 100 reports last night in my free time, and I'm currently working on the chain post spam that's been plaguing General all day. I'da helped a bit more earlier, but Basil wasn't letting me hit the moderate button.

You can tell things have gotten bad when I'm actually lending a hand around here. Holy hell we need to either rethink our priorities or something else, because 750 reports is ridiculous.

One thing I gotta say to the users: Do not be afraid to report. In fact, times like these are the best times to report because when there's 200+, a moderator doesn't have time to browse the forums like we usually do. A report means we'll get to it eventually, no report means we'll never see it. Even if it takes a week, a troll that's suspended late is better than no suspensions at all.
It always matters Seggiez.. just because they do it however many days ago doesn't mean they can do it and get away with it. But yeah.. I'm sure one gets tired of submitting reports after all hell breaks loose.
It's not that... more like.. and I cannot believe I'm saying this...

I feel like I'm bugging you guys (mods) by sending in so many reports when I know you guys probably have... quite literally.. almost a thousand other reports to go through.

Especailly on topics where I'm iffy.. (is this a troll or isn't it?... only to get a mod comment saying that it isn't a troll)
Yeah... I agree with you. In fact, sometimes If I see a bad post/thread I don't go through the trouble of reporting it because, chances are that by the time the mods get around to doing something about it, it won't even matter anymore.
Just because it's volunteer work doesn't mean it's right to half-ass it. Let's say I do take up volunteering at a homeless shelter. Am I going to half-ass what I do or would it be better for me to work hard for people that aren't as fortunate? Volunteer work, paid job, it's all irrelevant. People should be working 100% regardless.
Maybe there are more reports coming in than normal and the mods aren't able to catch up with it?
If there are 750 reports, then the reports might've piled up due to overwhelming reports being made.

This is probably only a temporary occurrence.
This doesn't happen much so it is okay, for now....
Eh.
I'm saying I've seen this happen a lot. Ever hate it when you report a few posts, notice a mod is online for a few hours posting on the forums, and just log off without looking at the reports? This time it's just more noticeable because reports are now taking days to get worked on.

I agree with you. A friend of mine reported a thread and it took three days for any action to be taken. She also ended up getting banned for pointing out the troll (among other things that happened in the thread), but with the ban comments for troll pointing out she claims to have gotten comments about "report it next time". Now off my blabbering, three days to close an obvious troll thread is unacceptable. I can understand a day, but three just isn't right.

Thanks, but my point is that the report queue gets filled up often with no mods touching it until it gets to that overwhelming point. I get that you guys can get sick of it sometimes and just want to post like a regular Basiler, but that would be just one mod's decision out of ten. The idea that no one ever feels like touching the queue is baffling.

EDIT: @Dendrology- Read my last few sentences above. Basically sums up my reply to you.
Uh Basiler? can you basil more?
I think it's pretty annoying when someone repeats you to do your job/
Things get repeated when it's not being done well or right. Case in point, I'm not seeing a very good job out of the mods and I'm calling them out for it.
it's volunteer work, which isn't as much of a prority considering most mods are in college.
Again, if they have time to post, then they have time to do a few reports. Hell, it should actually take longer to look at threads of interest, read through the OP, and type up a response than to check a report for its context and click "suspend".
why do the mods even have 750 reports to go through? I mean, it's not the mods fault when our users need to be reported 750 times
It's at 750 because they let it get that high. I kid you not, I just now got a PM from mrbot about a report I made like three days ago. I'm sure they get a lot of reports everyday, but it wouldn't be a problem if they actually dealt with them right away.

Regardless of payment, it's a job.

They're not going to do anything. They're as useless as GMs and the report is as useless as the ticketing system.
Don't waste your breath, this site's nothing different from Nexon's.
