Updating to Windows 8.1 from 8 takes so long

If it's a pauesable/restartable download sometimes pausing it, waiting a few minutes then unpausing it will give it a kick in the pants and get it going again.

Thanks for helping out again. Actually I just left it overnight and eventually it's completed.

No... a download might hang for a few minutes, but any longer than that and you can pretty much assume it's never going to complete.
If it's a pauesable/restartable download sometimes pausing it, waiting a few minutes then unpausing it will give it a kick in the pants and get it going again.
Otherwise you're a lot better off just canceling it and starting over again.
