@TylerBREW: It is called a MOS in the army as well. Anyways I am 35Q. 35 series is military intelligence in the army. My job title is Cryptologic Network Warfare Specialist. 12 weeks of basic combat training and 27 weeks of ait school. So I will be doing training/schooling for 9 months. -.-

@zoneflare, The enemy is non-conventional radicals. Such as the Taliban and Al Qaeda. We are fighting to deter terrorism, and restore Iraqi freedom.
So, tell the men who have fought the war, they fought for nothing, and the war is useless. Or bring yourself to go to Iraq, or Afghanistan, Go to the villages which were rumbled by the terrorist groups, that are defenseless and ask them if we aren't helping.
@spartanbrand thanks man, appreciate it!

@valint9: guess those veterens dont know what they saw either just must have been an illusion caused by their PTSD. Let me ask you though. What are you fighting for and who is the enemy?
@zoneflare4 not everyone is used as a sacrificial lamb! They have medical jobs, it jobs, mechanical jobs, etc, etc, etc. A lot of the jobs are just doing jobs that need to get done.

@TylerBREW I am surprised these kinda threads actually pop up on basil. Anyways I leave November fifth for the army.
@AidenAtack you get great benefits, not joining because of the benefits, but just saying. Free college, looks great on a resume, serving a purpose.
@zoneflare4 lol.
@dragonbandit nice dude, what MOS are your going for? im not sure what the army calls it, but what job did you choose?
@AFofficer I never stated i was a marine, lol. but im up for any challenge. my Contract is in the 03 field, hoping to get machine gunner.
@StayTruCB Ahh, you were a marine? got any tips for me? ive been working out casually, hiking around 6-7 miles with weights every 3 days ect ect. I know nothing will prepare me mentally, but physically i could use some pointers?
@DragonBandit: i just dont agree with how the military is being used right now. I mean even the medical part is hard cause you know that once you patch those guys up the chances that they will be thrown into combat again with an even lesser chance of coming back is pretty great. Just not fun to hear
Think of the military as an insular job market. Saying that about the medical field, is like assuming everyone who went to med school went into plastic surgery. There are wide and varied jobs within the military sector, many of which have nothing to do with wartime affairs, including within medicine. Not to mention they fund tons of research. And not the, "Only for weaponizing" type of research either.

So really your opinion has no actual backing and you are making up fibs.
I'm in the Air Force.

What's up brah
BTW, you're not a marine, or an anything until you have gone through bootcamp.
Because you can get out of your oath anytime from the time you swear in to before you go to bootcamp. At least that is how the rule was.
Correct, sir. One is not a Marine until after the crucible, and even then you don't rate anything until after good conduct medal/1st deployment.
You mean you can just enlist and you are in?
in Aus we have to jump through 4-5 hoops before we can actually join with a role in the defence force.
Sounds like the US military are desperate for people off the street to join them.
You are entirely wrong. lol it took me my whole senior year in hs, and part of this summer. They do FBI checks, make you pass medical tests, and also the ASVAB. it takes a while.
EDIT: took me that long to enlist. and bootcamp is 3 months of training for the Marine Corps. if you dont cut it, your out.
The US is not. You just have a poor understanding of the enlisting process what it entails and then what actually happens when you get out of boot camp. Which is not just, "OH YOURE IN THE MILITARY."
True
