Do Steam Sales/Mega Online Discounts devalue Video Games?

This topic has been brought up a lot in the gaming community, with recently EA's Origin team announcing themselves against "mega sales" that Steam normally have. They went against it because they say the sales can devalue video games and ultimately make consumers only buy video games when they are dirt cheap. As for myself, I am a SMALL PC gamer (only playing smaller games on my laptop), but I am a large console gamer. I do not mind paying the $60 or more (more if I want a special edition or something) for a brand new game, depending on whether I like it or not; however I have friends who are major PC gamers and they do not bat an eyelash at a AAA-title game unless it is under $20, which I say is somewhat unfair to developers who spend millions of dollars developing and producing these games, but my major PC friends instantly just call all developers like that greedy and unfair.

I see how these mega sales can help people on budgets (I've gotten a total of 5 games for around $30), but I also see why people say they can devalue games that are deserving of their $60 price mark.

Soo, what are your opinions on the Steam mega sales? Do they somewhat devalue games, or are they a mega miracle? Also, no PC vs. Console Wars, Fanboy Wars, or "Gabe Newell is Jebus and our Savior" comments

A sale won't devalue the worth of a game. If a game sold well, it should have a sale once in a while.
I don't play Steam or anything but my friends do, and it's a hell of a load off of them to be able to get more games. They have bought some games at regular price too, but they're not rich. If there happens to be a sale where a really good game is out, they'll decide from there on whether to buy or not. Honestly, it seems like a good business strategy and EA looks more like it's kicking itself in the butt while pointing fingers at someone else.

if the game is old enough it should get a mark down like cs.16 its about 30$ now idk i have not bought it in a Long long time i think they should knock that down to like 24.99 that would be better but the value of the game is to the player i think cs1.6 was worth my 40$ buy i still play it today

Don't listen to EA. They're known for being greedy and like to try to milk every last cent out of what fans they have left. The "devaluation" of video games is a ridiculous claim, and they just want to have an excuse to sell you $69.99 games, $20.00 in day 1 DLC, and $40.00 worth of "future" DLC to unlock content that was already on the disc.

For gamers like myself, video games are valued by their content, not by it's price. If a game such as Skyrim or Deus Ex was given a $100 dollar price tag or a $5 dollar price tag, the value of the game would be the exact same to the gamer regardless of price. However, if you compare Skyrim or Deus Ex to a game like Duke Nukem Forever, those two games would be valued much higher regardless of price.

Basically, EA is greedy and the mega sales are good.
