At 100k range definitely Aran.
But at 2m-2m definitely Aran.

The thing is I already have an Aran doing 1 mill crits but I was wondering if the Bowmaster Hurricane Damage adds up more! Thanks for all the helpful responses. Is the mobbing really that bad at SDH?

1. It's easier on an aran to get 100k range over bowmaster.
2. With same funding without damage cap, I feel aran does more damage.
3. With same funding with damage cap, bowmaster does way more lines per second.
The bowmaster will win by a decently large amount (actually a solid 20-50% depending on crits and extra stats involved, even) This is assuming that the bowmaster set up arrow platter and is using hurricane on a single target for the remaining ~8 seconds.
Another big note though if it matters to you is aran will punch out MUCH larger hits. My bowmaster hits an average of 80-140k hurricane at 119 (68k) vs my aran 400k,600-700kat 138 (53k). Also 100k range to an aran is utter poodoo compared to 100k as a BM. Arans have a much higher weapon mulitplier giving them a naturally larger range (my aran is severely underfunded and my BM is using burning gear/ my marksman's belt/earrings (16% dex each vs 6% str aran gear)
it's also important to note how bowmasters excel at small groups (1-4) and NOTHING more. Bowmaster AoE is rather depressing. An aran's single target damage is his/her AoE damage. So when you get to things like SH and DI the aran will win effortlessly. Seriously being a bowmaster at SH without a drool worthy damage range will make you regret it lol.
If you intend to cap every hit don't touch aran. They have fairly low hits per second and bowmaster is near the top in that regard.
TL;DR: Bowmaster wins at single target by a decent chunk. Aran creams bm at group damage like SH.
@mrpirate: i played tb for a few days, before stance was fixed. i don't like buccs, mechs or corsairs.
@rate: play the more uncommon pirates! i.e the explorer pirates, tb, and mech
