Renegades items in storage

So i'm wondering if you can put renegades items in storage before you equip them. I have enough for a renegades dragon staff i want to buy so i can give to my battle mage and i don't wont to risk the chance of me buying it and realizing that i just wasted some of my coins so in general can you put it in storage thx for the help
