Lets Talk About How Nexon Feels

Okay, yeah. Nexon is a professional company and they should have, in lamest terms, their "sht" together. They have done this on many occasions, but still.

Think about them for a second.

How long has this patch been on for? 15-16 hours? This means they have been working on the clock for hours and hours and hours on end, obviously people are switching shifts at least and they may have some confusion at their offices. Or, if not, these programmers have been analyzing, fabricating, and implementing code for 16 HOURS on end.

That's incredible that they are still going.

Not to mention, programming takes massive problem solving skills and logical thinking to get it done in the most clean and efficient way. Even if the main headquarters for Nexon got the code from Korea, it still takes MASSIVE teams to implement it into the actual game and send the file out for you to auto patch.

Also, the Korean code they got still has it's bugs. So they have to debug their program on top of the bugs the Korean code has. They put it in, then they have to test it. If it's messed up, they have to look through up to 500-750 TRILLION lines of code that specifically deal with that part of the game.

Not to mention they have to support and "feed" persay the most ungrateful and impatient player base of literally any online RPG.

It's crazy to think about it. So, next time you complain about there being another problem, think about how they feel. They are losing money from the game being offline. MapleStory is Nexon's #1 revenue source. Hence why it gets the most attention in things of this matter.

Just saying.
@BobR: if you interpreted what i said correctly, you would've known i'm saying: 'how would you know, do you work for Nexon?'

i would think each company is different and nexon, is very, very, different.

compare it to Blizzard and that's all I have to say
Every company is different, yes.
But the things they face in doing an upgrade like this are all pretty much the same.
Nexon could probably do better if they spent more on hiring more people or better people, and spent more on testing things before trying to implement them in the live game.
But decisions like that don't affect whether or not they're "professional".

I didn't say Nexon, I said large company.
I'm part of a team that keeps the mainframes alive for a large computer service company and I've spend many weekends as part of a product upgrade 24/7 until it's working correctly. I know what it's like to apply a large patch to a running live online product, and the kinds of things that can come up during an upgrade like that.
It doesn't matter how well tested anything is, there's always something that goes wrong at the last second. No one can predict how long anything like that is going to take because of all the unknown variables involved. There's far more to it than anyone just looking in from the outside ever realizes.

Just because you guys don't get to play for a few hours (or days) doesn't mean you should bash on them because they're doing a "bad" job. You guys clearly know that they won't be done by their announced time so you should've prepared yourselves. They could be slacking or they could be working really hard checking for glitches thoroughly. Either way, the game will be up.
Why are you assuming they work 15 hour straight? For all we know they could be slacking.
Because anyone who programs for a living knows that if something goes wrong, you don't sleep until it is fixed.
They're just bad at this. They should sell the game and go make hotdogs or something.
That's like you running a bussiness and making over 1.1 billion dollars a year and then saying "I'll just give it to someone else"

Not to mention, the owner probably loves the game.

I used to be upset at Nexon for their mistakes but now it really does seem that they're trying to pick themselves up, they're actually updating us with information on the site rather than stay silent for hours on end. They would never admit to things such as screwing up accounts during the patch, only afterwards they would discreetly fix it without a single notice of it just to save their own ego. But that doesn't seem the case anymore, they dropped their ego to admit to their faults and I for one am viewing that as improvement and a step in the right direction. As for the extensions? well that just means they're trying to get rid of the most bugs possible.. surely it's not entirely easy as a programmer but it's their job to fix it and that's what they're trying to do.

they don't put all the code in 1 file, they're divided into sections and its pretty easy to find out where the compiling error comes from just read the error synt
