Are Poles Thieves?

Well, today I found out most car thefts in Germany are near the border with Poland, and apparently lots of Poles know the distance between the border and Berlin (Creepy, right?).
I'm in 11th grade, meaning I'll fly to Auschwitz-Birkenau when it'll be the Holocaust Memorial Day in Israel and I don't want to pass on the trip since my mother's side of the family suffered a lot from the Holocaust (They lived in Galicia during the war unfortunatley) and it really helps you bond with your Jewish identity, but I don't want to risk my personal belongings, should I be prepared when I'll go to Poland?
Do you always come up with sweeping generalizations for a people by basing it off of a single piece of information?
This time it actually applies to me though, since I've seen lots of pieces of information about this, but Dexless settled this.
Okay when in Poland on like a metra, subway, or what ever walking on a street.. HOLD your valuables (ipod, phone etc) cuz people may run up to you and steal :l

I doubt it would happen though you'd have to be in a very bad neighborhood.

Hope i helped?
I was kind of hoping for someone to disapprove/confirm it so I know whether to bring ton o' stuff or just 1 suitcase.

@ 2 of the above,Galicia is an area in South Poland and West Ukraine, where Nazis mostly just dug death pits for Jews and Slavs,I guess you can imagine what my Jewish ancestors went through.

Don't bring your belongings?
Especially clothes, don't want your precious clothes taken
lol, jk

I guess be prepared for stuff to happen and watch over your things?
then again, easier said than done.
