Could someone help me get this remote to work?

I have a Dell remote that came with my computer a while back, it works with windows media player and allows me to watch tv on my computer, it uses I.R. and has a connector, it works with windows vista. I ungraded to windows 7 and now it won't recognize it or follow any commands. I think the serial number is N817 and I know the patent number is 5.877.702, if either of those help, the usb adapter to recognize it's signal's serial number is HK 03 50727 G 000052 and is also by Dell, they both are around 2 or 3 years old. If someone can help me connect it to windows 7 and work, I would greatly appreciate it, and also, does this remote work with Dpadder and MapleStory? If need be I'll take a picture of it and post it.

Thanks for the help man, I was planning on holding it sideways, like a wii-remote and changing up to left, left to down, ect. having the number keys and buttons near it be skills and leave the clear button for an AoE, and then the upper buttons such as play, pause, stop, ect would be used for pots, and I'm sorry I got the program name wrong, I haven't used it yet.

It's likely there needs to be a "driver" installed for the remote to work. Drivers are small software packages that tell the computer how to use specific devices, and it's possible when you installed Windows 7 it didn't install the driver for your remote.

The best thing to do is to go to the dell web site (www.dell.com) and find their "Support" page. Then on that page find their "drivers" or "downloads" page.
Then on the downloads page they'll ask you what your computer's model and model number is (something like "Dimension 124X&quot. If you don't know what those are, they should be on a label on the back or bottom of the computer.
Once you input the model and model number and possibly tell them you have Windows 7, they should show you a page with all the drivers they have for your specific computer. Find the line for the "IR remote" (or wording to that effect) and download the file. When the download is finished open the file that was downloaded and it should install the drivers for your remote.

I've never heard of anyone using a TV style remote with xpadder, but I guess there's always a chance it might work, though I've never used a controller with Maplestory so I can't say for sure.
