Is Rl Yu-Gi-Oh Pay2Win?

I mean is it? Technically you need to pay for a deck and then to get better cards you need to buy booster packs. I know it is a strategy game, but don't you need money to buy the cards to make a GOOD strategy? Then again, you can trade cards with other people, but about 99.99% of people know what's a good trade and what's not, so a bit difficult to get rid of the crappy cards for the good ones. o.o

@ShiroMugetsu Noob question: What is today's metagame? Haven't touch Yu-Gi-Oh in years. Hell, I didn't even know what was meta when I was playing.
$100 in Yugioh will give you 1 card of which you need 3.

OT: In my experience, anyone could top a YCS or Nats if they had the best meta deck, a basic understanding of the meta deck, and luck.

As much as Yugioh is pay2win, it's also about being lucky.
Unless you're running the #1 world deck, 100 dollars will get you pretty far if you know where to shop.

@RitoPls: What I'm trying to say is that no deck uses a $100 card. And the idea of EDragons is to have an extra deck; practically every meta deck uses one nowadays so I'm not sure what you're trying to say here. As for Mermails, they were T1 when I was collecting, which was in April not to long ago. Even the newer decks like Spellbooks and Firekings don't even cost that much to build.

TL-DR: No one is forcing anyone to run a deck with $100 cards.

@wk70129: They're all common cards and everyone wants to collect rare, expensive cards.

@yumtoast154: E-Dragons? They're worthless without the extra.
Mermails are not tier 1.

@yumtoast154

Wait, I thought you could get a deck from some store for like $15? Are they fake? I never bought them, I just always started with the crap deck I was given.

Except 99% of YGO cards aren't worth more than $30.

For $100, you can build a Mermail or Elemental Dragons deck, which are both tier-1. No one is forcing you to buy that secret rare Monster Reborn when a common version costs 25x less.
@Aqueous: That you actually HAVE to pay to win, unlike yugioh where you can steal to win
You can just hack people and get funded that way...

Yu-Gi-Oh is based on skills and strategy. The best Yu-Gi-Oh player at my school has never been defeated by any of my friends. He once switched decks with my friend, and they dueled but he still won despite not having complete familiarity with the cards. So yeah, skills, luck, maybe a bit of $$$, but not as much as Maplestory.

No such thing as luck when playing Yu-Gi-Oh. You get the card you want when you believe in the heart of the cards.
