use graph paper and draw the coordinates on there. If there is a resemblance of a line, figure out the slope of that line using the slope formula. then use that slope and solve for x when y=-1.
Just use the equation (y2-y1)/(x2-x1) using the two known coordinates to find the slope (that equation should definitely be familiar to you)
Then when you have the slope, you should be able to just figure out on your own what the x value is when y = -1
