WorkOfArts Art Advice 4

Hey guys! I love giving art advice or critique. I can only give advice and critique to the best of my knowledge and ability, though. I've never taken an art class or had any type of formal training, so things I say might be different from what you may have been taught.

If you want critique, feel free to post below or send me a PM!

Tracing is okay
Sometimes, the best way to learn is to trace. Sometimes you just have to trace it so you can understand just exactly how the curves and lines work. By no means should you ever think that tracing is not a viable and useful way of learning.

If you can't copy something, then trace it. Don't just draw the wrong thing over and over... you'll get used to doing the WRONG thing.

However, don't trace and then say it's your art... if you trace anything, you should respect the original artist/photographer by saying that you used their artwork. Trace for practice, not for show.
1+ for good advice only tracing i do is on my own work which i do one copy then trace it smoother and smoother till i get a better copy, i dont know if that is the right thing to do tho
If it's your own work, and if that's the way that's best for you, then go for it! Tracing things smoother is also a form of practice in itself. There's no definitive "right" or "wrong" for art... it's a very grey area. Some people are going to say using a tablet is cheating, some people are going to say using references are cheating, while other people say that tracing is no problem whatsoever.
