WorkOfArts Art Advice 6

Hey guys! I love giving art advice or critique. I can only give advice and critique to the best of my knowledge and ability, though. I've never taken an art class or had any type of formal training, so things I say might be different from what you may have been taught.

If you want critique, feel free to post below or send me a PM!

If you are serious about learning how to draw, join an online art community

There are plenty of amateur art communities you can join. Some are more active than others. DeviantArt is a great place to stop by, but it's very crowded. You can join a sub-community in deviantArt, such as a group or a chatroom. I participate in the #Artgermination chatroom. Do take note: chatrooms are usually crazy active at times, and completely empty at other times. There will always be people logged in but AFK in the chatroom. If you go there and talk, and no one answers, it's just an empty time... try staying there for a while and you'll find plenty of professionals and students to talk to.

Online art communities not only offer you free advice and guidance, but free critique on your artwork as well. If you make good friends with the people there, you might even get someone good to directly help your artwork. You'll be able to see many livestreams and understand how people draw, and you'll also be able to make livestreams of your own and ask for people to guide you step by step. The benefits of joining an online art community are endless.

Join an art community.. just do it. It will definitely help you tons. For those of you with deviantArt accounts, start using it more. Visit the chatroom I frequent and I guarantee people will help you out.

ConceptArt is also a really nice community, i've found the userbase to be v helpful and knowledgeable
why i'd recommend it: they have a forum for people looking for critique and a forum to post your sketches in a kinda online sketchbook
they also have weekly contests and lessons for those interested
i've learned most of what i know now from participating in this forum and getting honest feedback from people who are actually passionate about art and helping others improve
my only complaint is that they are constantly updating the look of the site and each time it gets harder to navigate, but i deal
