Does Midnight Carnival hit one monster, or a mob?

@wsly Right now, since Luminous came out, Chain Lightning isn't worth it anymore. Luminous' Reflection just has a much better range and damage, both are very similar.
For the main attacking skills, for 1v1 it's usually Dark Sight and Assassinate. For mobs, usually 3+, it's Boomerang Step and Midnight Carnival/Eckhart's Vampire with PickPocket on for generating coins if you can control Meso Explosion, or just Boomerang Step and Steal/Eckhart's Vampire with PickPocket off if you don't really like using Meso Explosion or if it gets too annoying for you. Boomerang Step and Steal does just a little bit extra damage than Boomerang Step and Eckhart's Vampire. Eckhart's Vampire also has a constant knock back on mobs, as in, it knocks back 4 times the distance than a regular skill would knock back the mobs.
Personally, I've been using Boomerang Step and Steal with PickPocket off because I didn't really like using Meso Explosion(too messy), and after I got Boomerang Step Extra Strike, I stopped using Steal with Boomerang Step since the extra strike more than makes up for the delay, so right now I just spam Boomerang Step alone for mobs.

But, if I make an I/L, is Chain Lightning worth it?
Also, if I make a UA Shadower, what is the main attacking skill in 4th job?
I don't know that much about Thieves, and I think you will know a lot cuz your main is a Shadower xD

I don't think mages jump around that much so, UA Shadower, they have Flash Jump. And yeah, you'll see a bunch of numbers with Meso Explosion.
I have tried to level an I/L Mage, twice, but I got so bored around level 80 and just gave up on them.
