Why do people do this does this happen around your area?
Okay, so, why is it that people decide to J-walk across the street, when there's a cross walk where they can safely cross the street like, ~10 feet ahead of them? >.<
You have no idea how frustrating it is when I'm driving along the road, when some mentally challenged lunatic decides it's completely safe to dart across the street, when there is clearly oncoming traffic from both ways... What in the world could possibly be going through their head when they decide to do this? Where could they possibly be going, that they're in such a hurry? </3

I gotta admit I do that when there's barely a car around myself o.O When I see no car then I don't see a reason to follow the rules, who's in danger anyway and who's there to judge me? Lol!
I can't answer you regarding those that risk their life though Impatience and it's not like you have control over them so just keep being a responsible driver and it'll be fine.
@iShottedSnow: If you mean to say, you would walk that extra 10 feet to cross the street, then yeah, I agree with you. I don't understand why people are in such a rush sometimes. o.o But, if you mean you're just lazy/can't be bothered to use a system/facility that was built for your own safety and the safety of others, then... I just don't know what to say. </3
Well then, wouldn't you look like an even bigger idiot if you J walked and got hit by some moving vehicle?
That's pretty impossible, unless you don't know how to cross the street safely... It's not like there's a ton of traffic. Our whole downtown is one block, so going to one of the corners pretty much means going to one end of the business section.
@PcPls123: There is no rush, my point is, this shouldn't even be happening. Of course I'll slow down if I see that someone's getting ready to J-walk, but what about when they see you coming, but decide to rush across the street, thinking they can make it across before you get close enough to almost hit them?
It is against the law, is reckless driving and walkers have the way to go even when they're wrong.
Tell that to the drivers who take advantage of that fact and just say that it was the J-walkers fault that their car got wrecked up when they chose to ram and not avoid to the best of their ability.
In the United States I believe it's not against the law to not stop for J-walkers because they are the ones who are disrupting the traffic and breaking the law. You won't see that happening in Canada.

It usually depends. Most of the J walkers I've seen aren't stupid enough to dive right in front of a near car. I have never seen that.
It's all about time consumption and patience. People don't enjoy waiting on parallel-sided lights to turn green just so they can walk. All adolescence and some adults have that issue, so it's something you have to deal with.
I know what ya mean, but it's really nerve wrecking when you have a close encounter with a possible accident, all because someone was in a rush to get somewhere, instead of patiently waiting for the 10 ~ 25 seconds it takes for a stop light to turn green/give you the signal that it's safe to cross the road.

I live in a town where there's 1100 people. You'd look like an idiot if you didn't J-walk.
People do it lots over here.
sometimes, if the bus is coming and we're facing a stop light
But it's not like that's the only Bus. So you're forced to wait another 15-20 minutes for another Bus (Depending on where you live/how good your public transit system is - It's not all that bad here in Toronto)
Are you willing to risk getting seriously injured for the sake of catching a bus to get home maybe 3 ~ 5 minutes earlier than usual? I use getting home as an example, since this mostly happens around when High school lets out.
And then you think "Maybe I ought to hit him just to show him how stupid he is."
This is usually followed by arrest, but hey, you take the bad with the good
You know how it is for them hipsters. Cross walks are too mainstream now.
