26 years old and still playing Maple Story.

Am i just sad? My mother told me that i was a loser yesterday and that made me think about it. She came to my room like always and said "Are you still playing that game? You're 26 and still playing a game designed for little kids, You really are a loser." and then left. I've been playing this game for 5 years now and i love it, i tried to quit before but i just cant too much memories and good friends.
It made me even harder think about it when my little brother's girlfriend who is 17 asked me if i have a life, i seriously just looked in her eyes and was like "..uhm, yeah duhh" i just don't know what to do anymore.

EDIT: For the people wondering, I do help financially and I take care of all the problems in the house, because my father died a few years ago i'm the "man" in house.
It's always drama in my house, my little brother is never home and my mum is always stressed out. The only thing that gives me rest is playing some Maple Story.
Sorry if my English sounds a little childish, it's my 3rd language.

EDIT2: Wow guys xD it's not like i don't have a life lol. When i come home from work or from the gym i get easily bored so i play maple Story! lol but seriously thanks for all the comments they really help :] i think it's time for me to quit and get my own place. Peace!

A game made for kids?
Trust me maple isn't a game for kids
Some of the stuffs in maple is biit too complicated for kids to play(efficient merching, profession etc)
When your mother tells you you are a loser I suppose you have bigger problems than playing a game. There is no respect in the families any more.

Anyway, I'm 26 and I play MS. I find it relaxing. I have a stressful job and during the weekends I like to sit down and chill out. I don't get why playing a game is such a problem. When there were no internets people played board games and cards. I would never tell my grandma she's too old to play a game of cards with me. Do you think your parents are losers because they play Solitare on their computers? Why is MS any different than that? It's a game.
i really agree with this.
although im 15 and this is making me make sure i dont play when im older xD
Ok first of all why are you still living with your mother? Second, do you work? Third, are you going to school? Fourth, what do you do for a living and are you outgoing. I don't see why a person that's over 20, 25, and even 30 can't play ms as long as they don't let the game take control of them it should be fine. People find joy in many random things and if ms still makes you happy and you love playing ms then its ok. But just don't let it get in the way by playing it for a long time. You should be living on your own or with a friend or room mate or a girlfriend. You really shouldn't be living with your mother leeching off of her unless you are helping her financially or just staying with her to comfort her. If your just at home bumming it and not helping around the house because your nailed to that computer screen then of course your mother is going to think bad of you.
Not even shakespearean poetry coulda put it better than that!

Bro, I been wondering myself why I STILL play this game. I am 21 years old. I am not amazed by the playing style but I still play for the friends that I've met through this game. It's not easy to leave them, I mean I could but I still want recognition for being there for them when they were bored and being there for me. The game, your right is a bit childish. I mean come on, who actually admits he/she plays maplestory? I did when I was 16 but now it's a social suicide. I barely play maplestory nowadays, I literally log on to interact with the guild/alliance/buddylist. Sometimes I train, sometimes I just talk and log off. Simple. Addicted? So what? You are playing simply because it's out of boredom or it's something you enjoy. No one and I mean no one should tell you what to do. They can judge you but what else can they do? Words shouldn't hurt you. Once again, a game is a game and it was created for entertainment.

Age... is just a number. Happy Mapling!

Dude, dont worry. YOURE OK lol!

I'm over 21 and I still play maple. I started when I was like.. 16 or something. Good memories. Just playing maple when I'm free. There's NOTHING WRONG playing games (whether it looks childish or not) when you're AN ADULT.
NOTHING WRONG.

Gaming is our hobby.
The society just makes us look dumb and retarted just cuz they think adults shouldn't touch games when they're over 18.... hence the "imma quit maple when I'm 18" threads.

However it's wrong if your life is crumbling down or you're living on the edge... and you're still playing games 24/7 instead of earning some cash to support yourself.

Just go play something that has to do with blood and that then your mother will not think you are a loser and your bro might be home because he wants to play it with you.

im 26 and i play maple story....i dont think its bad to play videogames i know plenty ppl playing videogames over my age and they have a normal life....as long you have a job cuz if you only play videogames and you are an adult well think about it your parents wont live forever and you need to realize there are other things in life besides games, like find someone to love make a life with this special person and keep going on in life....personally i hate people who say "get a life" because they want you to be in a way of life they think its the best....everyone must do the things they like and not caring of what others do considering you boring or a "no-life" person...screw them

It's not like there's an age where it's prohibited to play.
Bottom line, too much of anything is bad.

20+ here, I dun think there's anything wrong to be addicted in childish stuff, as long as you can finish what you need to do in your normal life~
I personally use MS to keep me awake during studying, so I basically only sleep for about 2~3hrs each day (with occasional 8 hrs sleeping day to fully recharge)
I think it works better than coffee and energy drinks; & I think kiddie stuff makes ppl happy ^^

Not that uncommon for women to be pregnant by 19. Hell, where I live, there are more pregnant High School students than adults. Whorish little girls. =/
Aaaaaah yeah, I see. Congrats, haha! I can't imagine settling down so young... I've got school to do and probably graduate school as well. May end up forever alone. :X

@wingofDesire- woah...that was haunting (also funny).

It shouldn't matter how old you are, Maple Story is for all ages. Someone takes a look at the graphics and decides it's for kids? That's hardly fair.

I don't find anything wrong with this. My mom's in her 50's and she's played Maplestory the last 2-3 years. There's nothing that says this game can't be played by adults. o_x

I started playing at 14.. I'm 19 now and still playing ( I did quit for 1yr ) .. and will be playing til im probably 30+ Maplestory is one of the best games that has things to do that involves other players cooperation. This here is one of the best implementations of any game.

I also play COD:MW2, Counter-Strike, BF, StarCraft, and crap load of other titles. Once a gamer always a gamer.

I'm 20 in August and I have no plans to quit anytime soon. I still watch Disney with my GF and watch a ton of anime. I've been on Maple since beta and some of my fondest school memories were me and my buds rushing home from school and partying it up Maple-style. Even something like a game can define who you are, I say keep going if it makes you happy, I know I will

I'm amazed at how many people think 26 is too old to still live with their parents. Even after having your own career you can't jump straight into your own household. Many people are paying off their mortgage by the time they're in their 40s and 50s because they left the house too early. The key to paying off a mortgage is to put a good down payment on it (roughly 80% would be great) .. Otherwise you'll be paying off the interest for the rest of your life. To make a good payment on a house you'd have to stay with your parents until you're at least 28-30.

Well, it depends on your culture. In some cultures, parents live with their kids until they die.

Living at home used to be a bad thing, but with the economy as it is, it's become a necessity for some people. Rent alone on a bad apartment can be $600 to $800 a month, which doe snot cover utilities, furniture or food. If the best job you can get is at a burger restaurant, living on your own is probably not an option.
read an article a few weeks ago that said the latest stats for gamers r - average age of 37. So if thats an AVERAGE there r lots of ppl OLDER and YOUNGER than that playing. honestly i think gaming is becoming the new TV - ppl play b/c it is interactive, while TV is for passive veg-heads. just pick a game and play it, if it makes u happy.

nothing wrong with it IMO. i'm 24 and i still play.
i'm a mother of a hyperactive 3 year old, wife, friend, and a daughter ... all at the same time -_-" o and i'm a nursing student too so yea, things can get quite stressful... i think of it this way, most people i know de-stress by pampering themselves at spas and whatnot.. i go to the gym or play ms to unwind. you're not a loser...don't let your mom stress you out. as long as you are not neglecting your real life responsibilities then there's nothing wrong really...

Oh, one more thing lol. I'm sure we're all happy (including your mom) because we'd rather you play a videogame to relax, rather than smoking some crack or something. THEN you would be a loser.

Rip it up bro. You take care of your crap goin' on at home and look out for your mom, thats cool. Only be worried when YOU notice other things in your life are taking a backseat for Maplestory. I don't think theres an age limit for anything you enjoy.

At Above: Depends. I've spent over $1k on Maplestory.
