The common trends of Anime/Manga
And your opinion of that trend
Every protagonist always ends up with a hot opposite gender character. <- Makes me kind of envious, and raise my standards in girls...Maybe this is why I'll become a wizard...

@shammyshakes: I love you too
@traase: It's still not as bad as Japanese manga.

manhwa also have their 'trends' half of the top 10 action or whatever deals with vampires, the artstyle looks good but i dont see artists having their own unique style. not like there arent harems in manhwa such as girls of the wild and even stuff like tower of god is repetitive. japanese korean chinese whatever. all the same. some will be good some are bad
1. New enemy appears, stronger than any other enemy the protagonist has faced before.
2. protagonist gets ass handed to him
3. protagonist trains to get some extreme power up, or is miraculously given that power up.
4. protagonist can now defeat enemy easily.
5. repeat 1-4.
This is why i stopped reading Japanese manga/anime and started reading Korean and Chinese manga.
It's because people who read/watch manga/anime feel the need to self-insert in to the protagonist, so mangaka make a completely average teenage protagonist and gives them an enormous harem of beautiful girls or has them trip in to boobs and asses for 300+ chapters. Pandering to the worst degree.
See "Nisekoi" and "To-love-ru."
The power of friendship. The main protagonists are the only ones able to shop in the eccentric clothes store for the color blind.
The "Chosen One", whether its by lineage or their ability is supremely unique to everyone else, or is later revealed to have either of those things.
I don't usually mind it, because we're typically only invested in the main character anyways. But its definitely a nice change of pace when the MC is actually just a normal person, living through their world without affecting it in some large, grandiose way.
It's quite sad really. They call it "pandering", but the idea of having some pathetic protagonist never appealed to me. I'd much rather have a good looking male lead, even though I'm nothing like him.
If he's got some really nice quality/qualities going for him though, then good for him, he deserves it.
In harems when the guy is weak, Unappealing, scared or anything like the mc of accel world.
In Harems when girls fall for such a boring, unlikable guy
like srs waste ladies get standards
