Windows 8 Memory and Disk Usage

I have this strange problem, It started today it never happened before today. I go into task manager and my disk usage is super high, sometimes it stays like that, sometimes it goes back to down to 0-20% range. Memory is being weird. It says 77% consistently, yet when it adds up the amount being used in the Users tab, it says its using 400 MB, I have 4 GB of RAM. Well disk usage isn't really new, but I never had this memory problem. Windows has even been auto-terminating chrome when I have 2 youtube videos open. TWO.

Does Windows 8 have accuracy errors or something? I doubt its a virus since Malwarebytes and AVG having updated just before I scanned, turned up nothing.

EDIT: I did a restart and now Windows isn't shutting anything down and memory is at 43-50% consistently.

EDIT 2: I need @BobR and also, the memory usage just keeps going up the longer I use it.

@yiffyfurry: Maybe turbo boost? I dont know, my laptop is supposed to max at 1.9 but I've seen it go to like 2.8 Clock speeds aren't everything but they're nice to have.

@xipwnux99: it was $530 and really, i was a little dissapointed because hhgreg.com said it had a 2.7ghz processor but really it came with a 1.8. how it can go above it idk because it goes into the 2's but it still says the max processing power is 1.8. can anyone explain this to me?

I figured out the issue. Windows has a memory leak issue where the longer your computer is on the memory is leaked and consequently is being used. Restarting your computer will fix this, other issues, and even finish the installation and uninstallation of programs and Windows updates, which is always good.

@yiffyfurry: Can I have your computer?

@Avatar: You should definitely get some sort anti-virus and anti-malware and run a scan both just to be sure. You never know. I once had a friend who had a virus that made it so his CPU usage was always at 97-100%. Thats not good. It may even damage your hardware.

My laptop gets the 97% disk usage problems and severely slows down. It was brand new with no programs installed either I don't know if its fixed but its a little better now. I doubt its malware though

that's odd, i have a $530 and running avast, skype, and basil on chrome i get 5% cpu 22% mem 0%disk and 0% network
EDIT it seems when i first open google chrome my disk shoots up to 44 then stabilizes to 10%
