You ask your friend

Is this an apple or an orange?

They reply "Yes."

What does this mean? I've had this happen to me a couple of times recently and I don't know what it means.

They're answering that, yes, it is one of the two. Questions like that are pretty ambiguous, so they're probably just making light of that and messing with you. My siblings and I do this to each other all the time, just to irritate each other.

No, they care. They tell me which they meant when I ask which one and tell them to say its name. I just don't quite remember what they say.

Do you literally have nothing better to do than sit on Basilmarket for hours, posting them same comment on every thread?

no punctuation involved, but i'd like to know what it means with it as well.
