We have to give Rockstar a bit of slack here... this is a huge endevor they've taken on that they honestly haven't done in quite this much detail... and not only that, this is an addition to the massive, critically acclaimed game they created that is worth the money even WITHOUT this mode added on... and this mode isn't paid DLC.
This is a lot compared to most other games on the market nowadays. You're lucky to break the 10 hour mark for single player, then have to buy in to multiplayer in a lot of other games... but GTAV has tons of gameplay and a free online mode with more content coming... and none of it requires real money other than buying the game itself.
They are working on the problem, so just be patient for once in your petty lives... and stop acting like such ungrateful brats. If you're so bored, play single player and explore... maybe try doing better on your favourite missions. Drive around looking for random events or do side-quests. I highly doubt most people here have 100% story completion... and even if you do, there are easter eggs all over the world! Go find the submerged UFO or something!
I had my first character erased too... but who cares? I can easily make a new one and start over fresh. Now grow up, kiddies, or I'll send Roman from Liberty City to your game and have him follow you around asking if you want to go bowling every 5 minutes.
@assumptions2: well damn. i guess i'll wait it out until tomorrow. was only level 16 but still also hate how they fixed the issues in this update that I had days ago (having story file get deleted, spend hours trying to race lamar)
@Phil495 @assumptions2 did you get them back? or should i just make a new one? some friends offered to let me win some races if i have to make a new one, worst case scenario.
Had rank 21 deleted 2 days ago, but its fine now. Quittung while servers down now doesn't cause my character to disappear. Only reason it should disappear now is that it was never saved in the first place. Either play and never get off, play around 10 pm pst to 8 am pst to avoid server issues.
You can spend billions, but there will most likely be server issues on launch day/week. RockStar can't do it. Blizzard can't. There's about 18-20 million copies sold. 2 systems and 3 servers. So there would be about 3-4 million trying at the same time as you. The same happened with Diablo 3, but with 2-3 million per server. Taking the game diwn for maintenance pobably helps, but RockStar decided to let us play and end up losin progress only ti be pissed off.
@CouponGoddess I did that yesterday. today i tried to log on and it worked but then I got disconnected and when I went back on it said I had two empty character slots

But yeah it's BS that a million dollar company is having these issues
