The Headphones Thread

For all you music lovers who want to enjoy the best sound quality a pair of headphones can offer, you have come to the right thread. This will be a thread in which Basilers will post their recommendations so you can get the biggest bang for your buck! From headphone smexiness to sound quality, you shall find it here.

My recommendation would be the:

Beats by Dr. Dre Solo HD (because of its awesome ability to handle bass and keep a clear sound)
and
Sony MDR-ZX500 (on par with Beats and only costs about $50!)

Feel free to post your suggestions and I'll update this thread as much as I can! (if you provide a link to the pic and a good description of the headphone you recommend)

Sennheiser CX-300ii Precision - Great quality ear canal earphones. Good bass and perform very well. Noise block out. Retail for about $80 AUD. You can get a brand new pair off of ebay for about $20 if you like. I bought my first pair from JB Hi-Fi and they lasted a good year and a half before I broke them. I then bought a brand new pair with the box, mini carry pouch and replacement buds for $21 from ebay. They work beautifully. Got them about 8 months ago.

Sennheiser HD 212Pro - Excellent sound quality and bass over ear headphones. Noise block out. Adjustable for comfortable listening with many different head shapes. Got them from my uncle 2nd hand. About 2 years old (I would guess), perform just like my brother's brand new ones. Brand new on ebay for anywhere between $80 and $120 AUD. Check around for a good deal. Not sure on RRP, as I didn't buy them in stores and I have no idea how much my brother's cost. I'd guess they're around $170 in stores.
You should try em first. Especially the MDR-ZX500s. Awesomely clear and cheap. Will look into your recommendations though. Does Best Buy or any other electronic retailers put em out for sampling?
I got We Are Superlative Conspiracy (WASC) The sound is really good, but I got a big head and it clumps my ears a lot, so it hurts.
EDIT: I got them for 16$ but they were on sale. They're usually 40$.
Ahahahaha Bose Quiet Comfort 3.
My uncle has the BQC 15? Idk, but they're somewhere around $500 and they suck, rofl.

No offence TS but your recommendations suck.
My recommendations?
Sennheiser Hd 448, HD 280 PRO's, and if you can find an HD 515, 555 or 595 for cheap, go for it. I believe the 515,555,and 595 are open air's though.
Shure SRH 240, 440's are great. 840's aren't as good as you would think.

What do you guys think about Bose QC3? I've heard that they're overpriced, but I'm working on getting it for free on one of these prize sites. So with that in mind, are they good headphones?

also, I was going to get me a pair of Sennheiser HD280 but unfortunately my trip to California was canceled and they don't have it here). If anyone owns it, opinions?
I've actually never noticed Beats until I tried it (so no biased opinions) in the Bic Camera in Ginza (here's the place): http://www.everystockphoto.com/photo.php?imageId=592985

What I think is Overrated are them Skull Candies. Sorta sounds crappy but looks cool.

I would've gotten the Sony MDR-ZX500 if I knew it existed x_X
Haha, go sell your Skullcandies and buy the Sony MDR-ZX500! I was actually gonna buy that but the Sony store in Ginza said they ran out and so I had to run all over Ginza to find another store. Found it but then I saw Beats.

ow that sucks. I've heard that grado sr60i and portapros were good ones but that is a huge con for me :X oh well. thanks for answering
I have portapros, and although I am aware of sound leakage, I've never received any complaints.
Maybe it's just because I'm never in any quiet, enclosed environments... if you're worried about annoying other people, you could always turn the sound down.

Beats are overrated, and overpriced. Honestly, I couldn't tell a difference between them and my portapros.

Ahh, I have a pair of those (Red-blue). Flaws are: people keep calling me captain america in school.

Seriously though, the frame breaks TOO easily and the sound quality is ok. The Cushion colors rub off as well.

If you guys ever get the chance to go to Japan, must definitely go to Sony Building in Ginza. Awesome headphones plus samples.

Sony MDR-V6's are some great Studio Monitors
Grado SR60i's are nice open back headphones although the cushions get asdf;lasjdflk after long listening
don't really feel like writing about them
