@cherrytigers: Black cubes have a higher rankup chance.
Now whether or not the rankup chance is worth the extra price is a whole other convo

Black cubes tier up my equips like 90% of the time compared to red cubes, maybe like 10%. So black cubes are good all the way to legendary.

There was a cube:tier-up count that people had posted once before on a Google doc, comparing several hundreds of cubes, if not a thousand or more, for both red and black cubes. IIRC dollar for dollar, black cubes would tier-up equipment much quicker than with reds.

@cherrytigers: I'd use black cubes if I had a good potential to begin with and especially limited money.

I find no purpose to using black cubes to "save" your current potentials for the reason that you are cubing to get rid of your current potential anyway. It's better to go all the way and use reds until you get the desired stat.

The description on the black cubes does say they have a higher chance to raise your potential rank than red cubes do, no idea what that chance is but I have actually had more luck with red cubes.

Honestly feels like some people got more lucky with black cubes and decided they were better than red, and everyone else just began spouting the same nonsense. Idk though.

People say black for tier up, but I tier up all the time with reds and don't get anything worthwhile with black.
