Here's some manga recommendations I'd like to add. They're all finished mangas.
[b]Hanazakari no Kimitachi e (Hana Kimi) - Romantic / Comedy[/b]
One of the best shoujo mangas I have read in my entire life, if not THE best.
Story from Wikipedia: "The series centers on Mizuki Ashiya, a Japanese girl who lives in the United States. One day, she sees a track and field competition on TV, and becomes attracted to one of the high jump competitors, Izumi Sano. She begins to idolize the young athlete and eventually transfers to Japan to attend the same school that Sano attends. There is a catch, however: Sano attends an all-boys high school, named Osaka Gakuen and Mizuki must disguise herself as a boy to enter."
The best thing about this manga, is probably how well developed the characters are. Or rather, how well they're treated. Every character is loveable and nearly all of them get a lot of attention in the manga. All their stories are explored in a great way, whilst not hindering the story in any way.
[b]Special A - Romantic / Comedy[/b]
I like to say that it's one of the best, but it has flaws. It's definitely one of my favourites though.
Story from Wikipedia: "Hikari Hanazono has always been second to Kei Takishima. When they were six years old, their pro-wrestling loving fathers introduced them to each other. Assuming that she was the best in wrestling, young Hikari challenged Kei to a wrestling match only to be thoroughly defeated by him. Ever since that fateful incident, Hikari swore to beat Kei in school grades, sporting events or any competition. To do this, she has enrolled in the same school as Kei since elementary. Now she attends Hakusenkan, an ultra elite school for the wealthy, that costs her carpenter father a lot of money. Hikari and Kei are the top two students in the school, with Kei holding firmly to that number one position. While Hikari considers Kei to be a rival and important friend, she is completely unaware that Kei has strong feelings for her."
The manga mainly focuses on the comedy, although there will be some romantic moments between Kei and Hikari. The problem is, you will notice it, Kei will notice it, everyone will notice it, even his brat little brother will notice it, but Hikari doesn't. The problem with the manga is that the main character Hikari is incredibly dense. She's a loveable character don't get me wrong, but after a while she can get a bit on your nerves. Even though she can get on your nerves a little, she's a great character. She aims to be the best and works hard for it. That's probably the main reason I loved this manga, the female character for once isn't useless and doesn't really care about the romance until much later. It's a nice relief from the generic romantic forceful relationship crap.
[b]Ramna 1/2 - Comedy / Romantic[/b]
I'm absolutely in love with Rumiko Takahashi and I personally believe that Ramna 1/2 is her absolute best title. I admit that I've watched and read Inuyasha a whole lot more, however the quality of that series is greatly ruined by the amount of name yelling. Which Ramna 1/2 suffers from a bit less.
Story from Wikipedia: "On a training journey in the Bayankala Mountain Range in the Qinghai Province of China, Ranma Saotome and his father Genma fell into the cursed springs at Jusenkyo. When someone falls into a cursed spring, they take the physical form of whatever drowned there hundreds or thousands of years ago whenever they come into contact with cold water. The curse will revert when exposed to hot water until their next cold water exposure. Genma fell into the Spring of the Drowned Panda while Ranma fell into the Spring of the Drowned Girl.
Upon returning to Japan, the pair settle in Nerima, Tokyo at the dojo of Genma's old friend Soun Tendo, a fellow practitioner of Musabetsu Kakuto Ryu or "Anything-Goes" school of martial arts which Genma passed on to Ranma. Genma and Soun agreed years ago that their children would marry and carry on the Tendo Dojo. Soun has three teenaged daughters: the mature and unflappable Kasumi, the greedy and sarcastic Nabiki and the hot-tempered, but helpful, martial arts practicing Akane. Since Akane is Ranma's age, she is appointed for bridal duty by her sisters. Their reasoning is that Akane dislikes men (she was aggressively pursued by most of the boys in school at one time), and that Ranma is only a man half of the time; therefore, they are perfect together. Although both Ranma and Akane initially refuse the engagement, having not been consulted on the decision, they are generally treated as betrothed and end up helping or saving each other on numerous occasions. They are frequently found in each other's company and are constantly arguing in their trademark awkward love-hate manner that is a franchise focus."
Once again, the characters are amazing, the story is original and I've caught myself crying from laughter. The humour in this series is refreshing relative to the comedy I see in most mangas nowadays. The way the mangaka treats all of her characters with love but still rather shamelessly puts them out there is great. It's a pretty unpredictable manga and I even recommend you watch the anime (which sadly doesn't get to the end of the manga).
[b]Oyasumi punpun - Seinen / Slice of life[/b]
I read it ages ago to be completely honest with you, so I'm a bit fuzzy on it. But if there's a recommendation thread without this title in it, it has failed as a recommendation thread.
Story from Wikipedia "Oyasumi Punpun follows the life and experiences of Onodera Punpun, a young boy living in Japan, as well as a few of his friends. The manga follows Punpun as he grows up, splitting the book into around 4 stages of his life: Elementary school, Middle school, High school, and his early 20s."
Oyasumi punpun will make you laugh and cry. It's incredibly well written and the art style is beautiful as well as original with regards to the main character, which is something you'll understand the moment you start reading. The story tackles many philosophical questions and is a great portrayal of a dysfunctional family and how a child copes in it.

Nice list, I would add magi it had 2 seasons and possibly has more seasons to come so far these are the finished seasons:
magi: the labyrinth of magic (first season)
magi: kingdom of magic (second season)
Think of this like FT with blood in it and people dying lol. Jokes aside Magi begins with Aladdin, who is a Magi which is a human who can draw in the Rukh (the energy that creates everything in the world) from around him and use it as magic. Normal humans can only use the rukh from within themselves to use whatever powers they have (magic, the power of metal vessels given to them by Djinns, etc.). Aladdin meets a boy, Alibaba, who is working for an oppressive boss. Alibaba dreams of one day being able to capture a dungeon (these mysterious "buildings" that began appearing in random places all over the world a little over a decade ago) and becoming rich. But Alibaba does not want to be rich just to become rich unlike most of the people who are wealthy and greedy. He has personal reason that I won't give away involving his home country and his childhood friend. At first Alibaba just wants to use Aladdin's amazing Magi powers to achieve his goal, but, along with the Fanalis (red-pink haired people with incredible physical strength) Morgiana who was a slave that the two of them helped free from her sadistic master, they eventually become friends and agree to travel the world together (yeah that plan still hasn't really happened because of a lot of stuff that gets in the way). But that stuff that gets in the way is all very interesting and is really what the story is all about: how the main characters Alibaba, Aladdin, Morgiana and eventually the prince Ren Hakuryuu, come together with everyone they meet in order to protect this world that is being threatened by a mysterious group known as Al-Tharmen. Al-Tharmen is causing chaos all around the world by influencing people and helping struggling countries either by offering them weapons, money, power, or all of the above.

At this point in time, I don't expect the guide to be stickied without removing at least a quarter of the content. It doesn't take much effort to post new versions either, since most of the hard work was done 4 years ago. The worst part is just reformatting the h/h2 tags because Mr. B changes the aesthetics and spacing of headers at least twice a year.

The goal is to curb recommendation threads, not remove them completely. We all know that it's impossible to get rid of all future rec threads without making them a suspension-worthy offense (off-topic posting, perhaps). And yes, it's nice to see people following the guidelines this time around as it makes this job so much easier.

Yumtoast put together recommendations of what he and many others think were "GOOD" from the previous threads. Almost all of the things he put are amazing anime.
