Lets set up some rules
I, and at least a dozen other Basilers have been with /90/ (anime/manga section) ever since it was separated from /6/ (chat). Of course, that destroyed the high level of anime discussion because /90/ threads weren't front-paged. Now that's changed and we finally have a spot on the front page again -- and if you've been a long-time member, you'll have noticed by now the massive increase of activity compared to 3 days ago. It's fantastic that we have 3x the posts, but we also have 3x the amount of bad posts.
So can we, as the small community we are, make some basic rules we can stick with?
You know, like not making recommendation threads and not spelling/capitalizing/pluralizing the word "anime" incorrectly on an anime subforum.

Anyone know any forum mod's so we can get the anime recommendation thread tacked to the top of the anime forum. Cheers
Happy viewing all!
This is basically it, tell me if I forgot any.
1) When doing an anime recommendation, you must be specific about what you want.
Not too specific, just specific enough that every thread won't get the same answers. So instead of saying, "Need recommendations," say something like, "What is a good romance anime with a dandere lead?" This way, "Sword Art Online" or "Attack on Titan" won't be recommended.
2)No "Hating" a series.
Its okay to not like a series, but don't go to a thread just to say you dislike it. Give legitimate reasons in detail as to why you dislike it. Going to a thread just to say, "[Insert title] sucks," is stupid because if you dislike the series, then why go to the thread? This will also lead to unnecessary flame wars.
3)To each their own.
Respect everyone's opinion. This one is simple enough.

Why don't we throw in happy watching(magi) while you're at it
Anyway of getting the anime recommendation list thumbnailed or tacked to the top , that list is pretty dang good
No wonder there's been so much activity lately. I didn't even notice it, since I usually just go straight to the forum directory.
How close are you to finish v7? It would probably get rid of (most of) these threads.
@Phong128992 Recommendation topics don't facilitate discussion. There's already plenty of comprehensive guides (even one here, by the TC himself), that has more anime than the average person can watch in a year's time, so I think it's common courtesy to make use of those resources as opposed to unnecessarily cluttering this board.
As nice as that would be, even places that ban rec threads get them pretty damn often.
lost all credibility to make a post right here
TS wouldn't take me seriously anyway.
@Novagnome24
I agree that people will be offended when you point out flaws, i have had people think i was attacking them when i was pointing out why i didnt like an anime and its flaws.
The problem with basil for the discussion is that it will either be flooded with stupid / mainstream responses (similar to the recommendation threads) or will boil down to a few people arguing semantics. There will be some worthwhile discussion with it, but most of it will result in people calling others stupid for liking / disliking something.
This will be hard to do unless we can get threads stickied in subforums.

No, just no. I know people dislike others asking for recommendations, but this is still a forum nonetheless. Unless someone's breaking a BASIL rule then there shouldn't be any reason why they can't make a recommendation thread. This is a forum after all.
Also, no thread is a bad post. If you don't like all the "bad recommendation posts", ignore them. Thanks again for some of your previous recommendations in my other threads, but still lololololol.....
ya the amount of activity lately on this board has been amazin, i literally thot most of the topics were moved from chat because of the large amount of unfamiliar faces and quick responses now
i think dat we shud have an updated animes basil guides
When you lose in real life, you find yourself watching anime.
Don't recommend any sexually explicit anime

I remember making an anime recommendation thread on this forum once like a few years ago; blegh.
I just want to be able to talk about anime seriously without people getting offended, cause I know a lot of anime communities can't stand honest criticism.
As long as we all agree that KLK, SAO, and shingeki no kyojin are the best animes of all time 1322323231/10
