Sylph ring

Hi guys! I've been seeing posts about what Sylph ring to choose? and it sounds like a good ring? was wondering where people are getting the choice from? is it a quest?
That's not true, and hasn't been true for a while.
A fully upgraded min crit Sylph ring will beat a Cracked ring unless you get really good potential on it (21%+). It beats it in sheer base stats.
A fully upgraded Blackgate Ring, by default, is already better than a Cracked ring. It beats it in sheer base stats and can be potentialed just like a Cracked ring. And it's free.
Would a cruel ring beat out a tempest ring, then? (20% min crit, 5% crit rate).
This would be on a battlemage.

64~68% without dSE
64~83% with dSE
79~83% with battle rage + dSE

All of this without the cruel ring.

68~84% without dSE
83~84% with dSE
83~99% with dSE and battle rage

This is with the cruel ring.

I lose around 50k taking off tempest ring.

@traitor: It was calced that an 15% cracked gollux ring still is worse than min crit for a class who does not already have min crit boosts.

I chose pdr sheerly for bossing, and it does help. Alot of people choose min crit for obvious reasons, yet seems a bit butchered by many. Chose what you prefer.

@risingrain: When I take the ring off, I get 50/70 as min/max. Does that mean my min crit was 70% before the ring?

@risingrain @mrsindeath19 Sorry for the miscommunication guys. what I mean was the sheer potential to be better.

Obviously it would be better in the case of a clean ring but you cannot add other potential stat on the sylph ring whereas the Gollux Rings each have the potential to reach 15%+ stat, in some rare cases 30%.
Doesn't really matter for the most part. I'd recommend one of the crit ones or boss/pdr[if you boss but need assistance] ones if anything.

Best affordable ring set is still 4x gollux rings
Wrong. Min crit > Cracked gollux in the majority of cases

Dont think that applies to me, because it says min crit is 50% and max is 80%..
You probably have 80% min crit. If min crit is greater than max crit it swaps in the stat window.

@pascalio95
If your min crit rate gets higher than your max crit rate, they swap.

Is there a bug on it? I got 10% min crit and it raised my max crit by 10%?

Press the star on the left, and choose the purple book. STart the quests to get the lowest level ring

If you already have the lower level one, just keep it in your inventory and you'll eventually get a quest to rank it up to higher rankings. At the third ranking, you can choose between:
-10% min crit
-10% max crit
-10%(?) crit rate
-10% boss
-10% pdr
