Chinese people
This is funny actually
I wear them all the time and I'm not asian
I live in NYC and it's amazing to see people avoid me like the plague; sometimes I wear them when I'm not sick for the personal space I get everytime I wear them hahahaha
Maybe they don't want to spread diesease.
@Gyroscope:
Well yes, if you can't breathe through your nose because of allergies, then you breathe through your mouth and there are many bugs where I live so it happens. o.o
How people in Asia usually use it in the streets
China (used by the most people): Pollution>>just to hide their face>>fashion/to become anonymous>>>>>>>>>they're sick so they're being considerate for others
Japan (highest percentage nationally per capita): They're sick so they're being considerate for others>just to hide their face/fashion>>to become anonymous>>>>pollution
Korea (of moderate use): Just to hide their face>to become anonymous>they're sick so they're being considerate for others>fashion>>>>pollution
it's just a cultural thing
I don't see the big deal.
What are surgical masks? Can i have pics please :o?
To try to protect others or yourself from ilness.
I've also heard some people wear it so that they only breathe in warm air. (Since your breath bounces off the mask keeping it warm.)
In asia, a lot of people wear it. Its to avoid coughing on stuff, or to avoid breathing in something. Its more convenient than having to always cover your mouth, no? Its not something bad.
It looks kinda weird but it sorta comforts me in the sense that its better than them coughing without a mask on. Seems like a common courtesy thing so I don't mind
They try to keep others from getting sick, it's a good thing.

they do, they do. close to a body of water? you can count on 5 gnats getting in your face as you ride.
they have SARS
I wear a surgical mask when I go biking during allergy season and stuff. Keeps the bugs out of my mouth and then I don't breathe in as much pollen too. People do stare and whisper to each other when they see me and wonder what is wrong with me but I find that amusing, so it's all good.
You see lots of people wear it in Asia. It's just to avoid diseases i suppose.
They sacrifice fashion for health.
A grave mistake.
You do realise that it's a courtesy, done usually by sick/ill people, in an attempt to protect others.
They either want to keep themselves healthy or keep others from getting sick.
All in all, it's a positive thing,really.
Maybe they just want to avoid catching a disease
