i started watching Gundam chronologically by release date. currently in the middle of Victory, i've enjoyed doing it that way a ton. the only real recommendation i'd give is to avoid the compilation movies for Gundam 0079 and Zeta Gundam. especially Zeta Gundam, those movies mess with the story way too much.
