Nexon Q1 financial results are out Things aren't looking good for Nexon NA. Meanwhile, China's still climbing, Japan has Gloops, and Sudden Attack and DFO are doing well in South Korea. If the NA branch swims, then I wonder how. Maybe their upcoming Masteria update will be impressive, or maybe KMS actually has something interesting for their summer update this time, that the west can benefit from. A Suggestion for the New Beginnings Project When I saw that topic, the first thing that came to my mind was: too many rules. If it were up to me, this is how I’d go about it: - Open it up to all classes, and forget balancing diversity. That way, everyone is playing exactly what they want to, as opposed to giving something a shot and deciding later on that they don’t feel like going through with it. - Keep the application process in place and/or cap the initial number of members at a relatively low number (say 15-25). This cap can be increased along the way. If you plan on doing things as a group, playing times will be an issue so consider recruiting people from specific time zones (e.g. EST and PST only). As exclusive as that may seem,

A Topic about Nice Maplers If anyone in Maple Story has done something nice for you and you feel like sharing it, here's the place to do it. It doesn't have to be recent. It also doesn't have to be anything major; as long as it brightened up your day, it's worth mentioning. In case you missed the first sentence: this topic ISN'T for talking about how nice you are or what you have done. (Genuine good deeds are done in silence, after all). The purpose of this topic is hopefully shed a more positive light on the Maple community, and to show that it wasn't/isn't bad as we sometimes believe. Guidelines to follow: 1. Try not to mention the person's IGN in your post. Like areyoukiddingme said in his topic, "the act of kindness itself,

Maplestorys Community - Then and Now I know these topics are made every day, but I’m not going to annoyingly whine paragraph after paragraph about how much I hate the current player base. I just want to share what I’ve observed in my years of playing – what’s happening these days really speaks for itself. [header]Party Quests[/header] Years ago, levelling was a chore. Level 30 would take days to weeks, and at your 60’s, pure grinding would get you about 10-20% per hour. Since grinding for hours upon hours with little to show for gets boring, many of the players who valued the social aspect of the game turned to party quests as a way of having fun. Newbies hung out in the sewers of Kerning City, chatting about all sorts of things,

Where do people hang out these days? Where do people hang out and chill these days? Every time I feel like playing a mini-game (mostly Omok), I search (in channel 1, of course) all of Henesys, Kerning, Sleepywood, the long boat ride from Victoria to Orbis, and even some of the more populated PQ areas (e.g. the waiting room for Ludi PQ and Romeo and Juliet PQ) – basically all of the places that I’ve gotten so used to visiting in my years of playing. Today, at least half of these places are practically empty, and the other half is filled with little niches that clearly don’t want to be bothered, people who are afk, or people too busy looking for a party to care. I must be looking in all the wrong places, and at all the wrong times, righ

The business model of Nexon weakening? It seems like the recent (and poorly made) survey they posted might be a sign that they're willing to budge a bit in light of their weakening revenues in certain regions. In Q3 2012, revenues for Nexon NA dropped by about 21% compared to the Q3 2011. In Q4 2012, they found themselves in a similar position with a 21% drop again compared to Q4 2011. In Q3 2012, the only region that had a positive year over year (YoY) percent change in revenue was China. In Q4 2012, both China and Japan had a positive YoY percent change in revenue, with Japan almost tripling their Q4 2011 figures. (This is supposedly due to the acquisition of Gloops - a Japanese mobile games developer - and therefore their financials, and

3 Reasons Why You Should Not Be a Hardcore Mapler Firstly, to prevent any further responses along the lines of "hardcore != damage obsessed" - I admit, I don't know what I was thinking with the title. It should have been 3 reasons why you shouldn't care about your damage. 1. Damage standards are always increasing. Today, we have the potential and nebulite system. If you think your equipment is great today and take a one year break, and you’ll likely come back to find out your range is completely obsolete. 2. Having good equipment costs quite a bit. Either you’re throwing real money into the game to make the equips, merchanting to rake up the mesos to buy pre-made equips, or both. Because damage standards are always incr

The Good and the Bad of MapleStory - Part 1 No, this is not another MapleStory hate topic. This is also not another topic about how the old MapleStory was perfect, and how the new MapleStory sucks. This topic is one of many topics that I'll be writing, explaining what MapleStory excels in, and what it doesn't excel in (and what can be done about that). This is a food-for-thought kind of topic. If you're not interested in anything that stimulates your brain, then you can stop reading right now and leave. If you don't like me, then I have good news: this is the first part of my final contribution to the General MapleStory section. You never have to see my face again here unless you visit the Chat section. I apologize for
