Show off your old artwork Hi guys! So the point of this thread is, like the title suggests it, to show off your old drawings ^_^. It can be anything: a car, a tree, an animal, someone from a cartoon or anime show, etc. Go nuts! You can also link to your deviantart, tinypic, or any site that you have the drawing in. So here's how you can start: 1. First post any kind of drawing (digital, traditional, painting, etc) through a link. If you have the drawing here on basilmarket, then you can link to it too ^_^ 2. This rule is optional. You can explain when you drew the picture, and how the people around you reacted to it. Did they like it? Did they give you advice on it? Did YOU like it? Remember, this is optional so you don't have to say if you

I know 2 ppl that have been drawing for 8 years Well, the title sort of says it all, but it was just something that I have had in mind for the past couple of days. Anyways, I keep in touch with two galleries on DeviantArt. Both users have incredible styles of art (one being cute and colorful, the other being direct but sketchy). What I have learned about these two artists is that it took them roughly 7 or 8 years to draw the way they draw today. Of course, they have already graduated high school and either in their final years of college or working, but I find it amazing that those few years ago they were only able to draw the simple things! They even have their own tutorials on several things like shading, sketching the body, etc. I find t

Some helpful critique please? hey guys! First of all, thanks for looking at my thread. I was wondering if I could get a few basilers to critique one of my recent fanarts of Maplestory. I know it's just a sketch, but I kind of dislike using Paint Tool Sai on drawings. I would rather wait on the coloring and first find the mistakes and fix them later on. Thanks!

What inspires you to draw? Hey guys! I was wondering what are things or people that inspire you to draw. For me, it is OceanChan on DeviantArt that inspires me. Her determination of continuing to improve her proportions just stuns me. And her improvement even shows through her constant artwork! She also made me realize that not everyone that loves to draw is not blessed with the best of luck in their early years (i.e no art class or teacher, program, etc). That's what keeps me drawing because I realize that I have this similar situation right now: no art class in my high school so I self-teach myself for the time being. So, how about you? Who or what inspires you to draw? :D

I need critiques on my artwork Hi guys. I just wanted some artists on basil to critique my artwork on Deviantart. I usually post a new picture every while or so, and it feels like people only visit them only if it's a request I did for a friend of theirs or whatsoever.. I feel as if I need need work on the hands a bit and I need to start learning how to color with more shades on Paint Tool Sai =/ I would really appreciate if you would post some helpful links regarding coloring and different shades and maybe a few how to draw tutorials to improve on various anatomy proportions. So here's my recent artwork on Deviantart: From The Triplets picture and up. Note that I first draw my pi

The way how people develop their own art style Hello, artists and basilers :). It's a forum on my path to art. I hope many of you think after this experience of mine that not all are born with talent automatically. Enjoy! So, have you ever wondered when you were little how people draw so good? Well, at that early age, you seem like you can't do it, right? Wrong. Those experts you see, like the famous Dali or Picasso, didn't start as experts; it took time, dedication, and love for art to turn into what they are called "true artists". How do I know this? Well, I started drawing at the age of 5. Really, my first ever was a drawing of a horse head! Now, to many, that would've seem pretty "expert", but in reality, I used a so

Is your art style influenced by the showsgames you grew up Is your art style influenced by the shows or games you grew up with? For example, I grew up with Hayao Miyazaki's movies, Pokemon, and Yugioh. 3 years ago I joined Maplestory, and that heavily influenced how I drew. But during my first year of playing, I did not know how to draw simply by memory, so I always drew/copied from a reference. Some of my first 'reference' drawings (this refers to Maplestory, not the actual time I started drawing) came from the demon bosses you kill around lvl 15+ and the Cygnus Knights, and I loved how cute and chibi the art of the game was. I kept up with each of my characters by drawing how they looked at the time and the level, a habit I still do today
