Help with purchasing New Laptop So I'm not a very techy guy, and quite frugal when it comes to buying things. My recent laptop used was a 300+$ Acer laptop. It was thin and lean, all black. Screen was wide and keyboard was nicely spaced out. I'm typing on a Sony VIAO and the keyboard is very small and jammed... Anyways, I was wondering what laptop I should buy online (or instore) if anybody knows good places. What brand, the functions, the lifespan, the feel/usage, compatablity, versality, DVD usage, components, etc. for a reasonably affordable price. I would say around $150-300+around there... I'm not looking to buy some small mini laptop notebook from Intel... I want one similar to the ACER I had, but a different kind. Any suggestions, th
Best Virus Detector/Scanner? I was wondering which anti virus scanner/program is the best, that finds the toughest, sneakiest virus's in your PC. I tried Malwarebytes,SuperAntiSpyware, and Avast. AVG is no good either. Anybody know an anti Virus/spyware malware program that is very thorough and reliable to catch all the toughest virus problems? Thanks
FireFox or IE 8, Which is better? I;ve been using Firefox for a long time, it's really convenient and handy..but i hear it's not safe with virus's. Maybe it's cause I was web surfing without Virus Protection..gg. Anyways, Anyone use IE 8? Someone recomended it and says it is really safe from Virus/Malware Attacks when surfing. Thanks.
Sony Vaio problem, C Drive 0 bytes after restored So when the sony VAIO laptop had hard drive issues, I asked classmate to help fix issue. Restored and pressed the red-Assist button to restore the hard drive. It worked, erased all data and back to factory settings. But there were still issues, cannot download anything... anti-virus's, firefox browsers, etc. I checked the computer>C:Drive and properties on the disk. It said 0 space available and 0 used with 0 bytes. When I tried to double click the C:Drive Local disc, a window would pop up saying "Location not available- C: is not accessable access is denied" Any help, thanks.

Suddenly Extremely SlowHelp So my cousin and her family have moved in for a while. She uses the laptop my mom gave her and the wifi is connected to the same one I use, same router/modem. Speed was very smooth and fast before she came here, after a while, the internet browsing, computer management, etc has been VERY slow. So slow that when you type in browser, it freezes for 5-10 seconds then allows you to type again. Browser goes (Not responding) all of a sudden, constantly... My question is, if my cousin goes on random sites, Downloads random programs, QQ messenger etc (! Dsl Corrupted by Link So the other day my brother was using the internet searching for a sports vid t download. He bumped into this link,clicked it and suddenly the internet restarts completely. Goes to "Log-in user/ Password" for your modem page. The light on the modems [ internet ] option is red, the [activity] and [ethernet] keeps flashing nonstop. I called At&t to fix and eventually got it back up. But they said there was some corruption with the LINE. Other notes: It said PPP fail to connect. Timeout 20minutes. Stupid Volume Button, Help! When I click my volume button up ONCE, it goes ALL the way up ..BY ITSELF! I click down continuously but it's liek a tug- of - war , it takes like a few moments to stop it.. it's getting annoying, is this some sort of virus? Rootkit Hiddenfile Virus, Help? So i scanned my laptop after it was acting weird and choppy, with Avast. After it was done, the full scan, it found 1 file. C:Windowsis-F69OK.exe Severity:High, Status: THreat:Rootkit: hidden file , Action: Delete. I tried deleting...it said to restart PC, it did and still there. Laptop Tech Help, Display Crash/Adobe/Shockwave Recently after my brother has used the laptop, he encountered a crash. ( Blue screen, forces restart) I didnt see what happened but he told me he was loading a lot of videos and downloading tv show.(usual safe site) He also updated adobe from through a websites link...that made me think it was that which caused the crashes to Firefox, etc. The laptop has been awfully slower, especially browsing firefox. Also encountered these error displays: -Display driver AMD has stopped working and recovered; where the whole screen freezes and blacks out, then recovers... also -Shockwave error, Warning... freeze again and recover, too fast to see what the message displayed. Then I went to this random site..and xxx popped up, I tried to close it, but it makes me click " OK" so I clock the X on the top right instead. Brand New Laptop question? I recently purchased this new laptop, an Asus x551MAV. It's processor is Intel Celeron, 2.16 ghz, 4GB Memory, 500GB HD. When I first opened it, it was brand new fresh and worked perfectly. No issues whatsoever. Used it a few times for basic things, music, videos, mail, web. Did not get any virus or malware. Then today I noticed while reading some news on MSN, I noticed there was something black, spots of pixels flashed; which I noticed with the side of my eye. It wasnt directly at me. At first I thought it was my eyes being blurry, my vision but it wasn't it was the laptop screen. VAIO Laptop Help I was playing Maple, laptop was on desk. I got up to close something in kitchen. The laptop fell right on its plat, bottom where hard drive/ram is. It closed shut also. I was like Oh no... Then i saw it was still on, Maple was on, it usually goes to sleep mode when lid is closed shut. but it didnt, stayed on... 30minutes later, Maple was fine; screen FROZE. It restarted on its own. Then the loading screen appears like usual, but it never got to 'sign in,log in' screen. Just "Microsoft" Loading thing. So i tried to restart in safe-mode. It loaded a bunch of system32 driver files C:/ , but after like 10+..it stopped again. Also, where the hard drive is at, it makes weird sound...like this. Click click click... click
