Does Maplestory work on Wine as of 2014?

What's up guys,
So the only laptop I have is my Macbook Air 11. I'm getting pretty bored and I wanna play some Maple. Does anyone know if Maplestory is compatible with the program called "WINE"? I've read some reviews that the compatibility was horrible back in 2009, but I'd like to know if it's compatible now as of 2014. If not, I understand an alternative solution is to resort to bootcamp, parallels or VMware. The thing is I don't exactly know what to buy to install windows. My budget is limited to $100 (because I'm a broke dude) so, if my only solution is to buy windows, what is the minimum price I have to pay to play maplestory on a Macbook air?

Thanks guys

@ZaraByte: Ah, I've heard. It all works out in the end anyway.

@AlaricFM: The only complaints I hear about Windows 8 are the Home screen stuff, it's just annoying nostalgic trolls. The game works on it anyway, so you're good.

Edit: I checked and Windows 8.1 was like $80...
I see! And windows 8.1 is for sure $80? That is, to install on a Mac of course. I can't buy just an upgrade :X
Windows 8.1 on the Microsoft website cost $120. By the way, when installing it through bootcamp, make sure you update it to version 5.1.

@AlaricFM: I'm not 100% sure because I've never done bootcamp on a mac before, but I think you just have to buy a windows 8.1 disc from somewhere (just google it and you'll be able to find the price), and then you just put it in the computer and run the bootcamp program
People don't like windows 8 because it's different from 7. I complained for like the first 2 or 3 days of having it, and then I got used to it and realized that it actually was a good bit better and faster than 7. Get 8.1

Haha yeah I already have Bootcamp. Are you sure Windows 8.1 is what I should be buying? I'm a little hesitant with all the complaints I hear about Windows 8.
