I'm not sure if it's bad memory, but I remember seeing that pot for a long time now. Though I have really bad memory, so I couldn't give you a straight answer.

He has a soul too? I'ma just take an assumption that 95% of boss have souls. Why 95%? Because that other 5% are from events, and there's no legitimate answer for that... yet.
It's part of the quests for Princess No's PQ. You have to take an item, drop it on the pot, and summon a different version of Pianus (from what I remember).
