Will my laptop stop working?

Example: laptop without battery bar is plugged in with charger. unplugs charger, laptop shuts down. will this affect laptop in any way

Yes, it could.

If you unplug the charger from the wall socket without shutting down Windows normally, it can corrupt the open files Windows needs to operate, and damage any other files that are open on your hard drive.
Then when you try to start the computer again, it may not be able to start Windows.

Depending on what's damaged Windows may need to be reloaded, or the hard drive might need to be reformatted, leading to losing ALL the files you had on the hard drive.

Always turn the computer off by using the normal Windows shutdown before unplugging it from the charger if the battery is out.
