this is what were playing?

where people say an X amount of time to do something but then try to defend themselves because the "standard" won't agree with them so they protect themselves for no reason
where damage is never enough and people say "JUST X amount of damage" in hopes of trying to maintain their ridiculous and self proclaimed status in game
where people contradict themselves by putting down honesty in game then proceed to due those actions in real life. prudes
where talking to someone is the most difficult thing to in a social game. just because they feel you're not up to their level

The only achievement left in Maplestory is to do more damage and to be able to do "endgame" bosses. Nexon purposely made it so that you NEED the ridiculous amounts of damage to do them.
A small niche of people actually play the RPG element of Maplestory to try become able to do the damage needed.
For certain people in this niche, who have friends outside of this game, they'd like friends who can help them achieve their goals. If you can't, then...

edit: Although I'm not someone like that, I certainly have people on my bl for that exact reason.

i'd like to meet those people. they're generally more approachable than the people with a stick up their a**

Pretty sure however that there are other things to talk about rather than damage or how much %stat you or said persons have. The social aspect doesn't necessarily have to be centered around one's damage output or how much money one has. Others like TrickyMimic stated, enjoy the solo play aspect. There are different ways to tackle a game; it's not just point A to point B, that goes for conversations too in a sense.
