A lack of moderately challenging bosses

I'm sure a lot of maplers who care about bossing have noticed this issue I'm about to address. In maplestory, there are seemingly only two types of difficulties when dealing with bosses: really easy bosses or insanely tough bosses. Having bossed for a while now, I only enjoy killing hard mode gollux and normal magnus. Hard mode gollux is challenging however, any moderately funded class can kill it without having to spend a godly insane amount of time/mesos into their character. With this observation, I believe Maplestory would be a lot more entertaining if more bosses like these existed. For example, instead of only having the choice between chaos root abyss and regular root abyss bosses, put in another tier of difficulty that is in between super easy and ridiculously hard. Let me know if you guys think this would be a good addition to the game.

If you want hard game play stop playing this game, this isn't the right game for you. The game's mechanics just can't have it.
I want a boss that just has a lot of HP so it'll take a lot of whacking to kill. None of that pseudo challenge that supposedly demands skill, nothing but a bunch of gimmicks to make killing it more of a pain. What is the point of defense and avoidability when those attacks will always hit a % damage on you, and what is with everything having DR. Maplestory isn't some fancy 3-D game with lots of maneuvering, unless we get physics like I want to be the guy or Super Meat Boy. This jumping around and crap is just annoying, all they did was make Maplestory more Super Mario like.

I mean I guess I see why they did that, since classes can now heal themselves quickly and Paladins have god tier defense, and even with those bonuses they're still great damage dealers. But that's an entirely different problem created by Nexon, they can't balance classes for crap. Some classes have crap defense and damage while Paladins get god defense and great damage, but if you nerf their damage now all the Paladins will do is complain. Of course though, what class wouldn't complain after being nerfed, like nerfing a support class' damage is just stupid right? I mean a bishop should totally out damage attacking classes, just because they're support doesn't mean they should be weak. Right? Yeah, but doesn't mean they should out damage attack classes, that's just stupid.

As someone brought up, items for any boss that is possible for average/non-nx players to kill are worthless. Not only are half the bosses pointless and half the bosses insane or impossible for most, their drops are also unbalanced as hell. Why do bosses only drop K's of money? Why can't they drop a few mils? Why are they dropping items that regular monsters drop and not special items that actually help? Why are these items all untradeable anyways? This game is too focused on ingame and real money. Use real money to get a easy boost because it's P2W, or work your ass off for ingame money to get a boost. At this point it's more of a second job than a game, and when I play a game I wanna play it and not merch to get anywhere. Sure some people like merching, but I don't, I'd rather fight some bosses and get goodies rather than buying them.
great post, i'd say have active boss affects that affect each class type differently. does that sound kewl?
That sounds good but the only thing I can propose with that is if they do these "normal" mode bosses, that they cannot drop anything too valuable or things will get out of hand..
A better proposal would be tradelocked items.

It is with extreme disgust that I write this letter and say what will doubtlessly be considered headstrong by some of my peers. Nonetheless, it must be stated that the cure for corruption, conspiracy, and treason must start by exposing the problem to people who care and are not themselves corrupted. But first, let me pose you a question: Is Nexon of eMurica actually concerned about any of us or does it just want to convict me without trial, jury, or reading one complete paragraph of this letter? After reading this letter, you'll indisputably find it's the latter. That's not the most frightening thing about Nexon of eMurica. Have you heard that it relies on stichomancy to "prove", inter alia, that it should be a given a direct pipeline to the National Treasury? I, for one, find information like that disturbing on so many levels that I can't help but want to reveal the nature and activity of Nexon of eMurica's secret police and expose their inner contexts as well as their ultimate final aims.

It is disgraceful that, with a wink and a smile, Nexon of eMurica has signified its approval of misguided momes who gag the innocent accused from protesting nihilism-motivated prosecutions. Anyone who takes even a cursory glance at this letter will quickly discover that the question that's on everyone's mind these days is, "Why aren't our children being warned about Nexon of eMurica in school?" To help answer that question I will offer a single anecdote. A few weeks ago, I overheard some rummy, revolting prima donna tell everyone who passed by that governments should have the right to lie to their own subjects or to other governments. Astounded, I asked this person if he realized that Nexon of eMurica evinces a bulldog-like instinct for going after the jugular of its intended victims. Not only was his answer "no", but it was also news to him that Nexon of eMurica's comrades claim to have no choice but to sanctify Nexon of eMurica's depravity. I wish there were some way to help these miserable, stubborn nitwits. They are outcasts, lost in a world they didn't make and don't understand.

Nexon of eMurica recently claimed that its imperium consists entirely of lovable, cuddly people who would never dream of turning back the clock and repealing all the civil rights and anti-discrimination legislation now on the books. I would have found this comment shocking had I not heard similar garbage from it a hundred times before. An interesting sidebar to what I just wrote is that Nexon of eMurica must be surrounded by some sort of reality-distortion field. Why else would its attendants insist that a richly evocative description of a problem automatically implies the correct solution to that problem? If it weren't for all that reality distortion they'd instead be observing that Nexon of eMurica has managed to mollify its more trusting critics simply by promising not to regulate isolationism. We shall see how long that lasts. In the meantime, each day, I see the world becoming more smarmy as a determined Nexon of eMurica carries out its worthless plans, and everyone with half a brain understands that. I draw strength and courage from knowing that most people comprehend the crusade to stop Nexon of eMurica and are supportive of my role in it. That is why, come what may, we must build a true community of spirit and purpose based on mutual respect and caring.
everyone stop typing college papers you just got out of school no need to get back into it
These are like, 8th grade papers at best.

On a side note, I haven't seen any complaint generator threads in awhile. Would've used one now but...

the difference between the rich and poor is way to large, so even if they create a new boss it either becomes too easy or too hard.
But i agree hard gollux and normal magus are probably the better bosses since you dont need to have full legendary gear, but having a few good unique equips is enough to make those bosses killable.

i agree, there needs to be more challenging bosses than cvellum. too many people are able to take the strongest boss down already sigh...

A mid tier would be nice, as I feel there's a lack of gear progression through bossing, bar using coins to get Gollux accessories (which is nice since easy mode can do it).

Like, Empress requires a very decent range to actually kill, and gives out 140 Emp equips, which are a good upgrade for new players. Of course, the only way you're getting these equips through bossing is if you have the range to kill her, and if you can do that, you don't need Emp equips as an upgrade. So the only way left is through buying through fm which is (fortunately) cheap. Same goes for CRA and Magnus, though Tyrants are high end equips so Magnus is fine.

Other boss equips are Necro (Hilla, which are pretty bad), Zak Helm (Easy zak), Scar/Targ (Not worth the effort compared to Zak, Von Leon (if you want to farm those coins for subpar equips, ok), Reverse/Timeless (Outdated by Emp, and won't provide a large enough boost to equips to progress, which can also be said by the previous ones).

So yeah. But most/all of these are just damage barriers, Magnus requiring micro to get through for those expensive tyrants.
