This thread was inspired by a [url=http://www.basilmarket.com/forum/2149884/0/Any_Brigand_Rankings.html]separate thread[/url] which asked for any known Brigands and where they ranked among others. After I made a preliminary list, I realized that it might work better as a thread in its own right.

I'm glad you asked. A Brigand is basically a Bandit with a Beginner lifestyle. Add everything into STR unless you really need the DEX for an equip, and use any common weapon -- [b]except daggers.[/b] Trust me. Your damage will seriously suffer. In first job you will only attack with the basic attack, but by level 32 you will have Steal, which does beautiful damage against multiple monsters. That will be your main attack for quite some time. In 3rd job, your training early on consists of Shadow Partner-assisted Stealing (SP should be at least level 12) with Meso Explosion later in the build, as well as the possibility of Shield Mastery, which gives you the second highest defense, behind only White Knights. Unless you have a godly 1-handed weapon (all but the Enraged Stirge Whip and the second Duck Tube are either tier 1/2 or daggers), you'll sacrifice a good amount of attack for a lot of defense, but if you don't have some godly Crimson Arcglaive, Purple Surfboard or Sky Ski, 1-handed weapons are recommended, as the range of Steal is constant regardless of the weapon used.

[b]Pros[/b]
[*] In theory, Brigands with Shield Mastery have almost the highest raw weapon defense in the game, second only to White Knights.
[*] Despite the lack of weapon mastery, they can do damage similar to -- or even greater than -- that of a regular Bandit, even as Shadowers.
[*] Flash Jump and Haste make them a very fast-moving class.
[*] There are a lot of good common weapons which can be equipped, like the Sky Ski, Enraged Stirge, and Purple Surfboard.
[*] Steal hits four targets for 300%, stuns them for 4 seconds, and has an economical MP cost, as well as a chance of stealing an item or mesos.
[*] They can equip Khanjars and Dragon Khanjars for an extra attack boost. However, they require 120/150 DEX. Unless you want to sacrifice a bit of damage to equip them, you'll need a ton of DEX and DEX% stuff to equip them.
[b]Cons[/b]
[*] Brigands miss out on some of the more awesome skills like Assaulter, Boomerang Step, and Assassinate, all of which require daggers.
[*] Funding is a must, at least for Summoning Rocks.
[*] You'll pretty much never meet requirements for thief armor unless you seriously want to invest in stuff with a lot of LUK, forcing you to more or less look like a Beginner.
[*] Being comparable to normal Bandits up until level 120 requires a [b]lot[/b] of money.
[*] Meso Explosion is random with 20% mastery.
[*] You get no new skills in 4th job, just a bunch of buffs and passive skills anybody can use, most of which are insanely expensive -- Maple Warrior especially.

Since the Nexon rankings don't show Brigands separately (and why would they?), this serves as a way to compare Brigands against each other, or to see who's who when it comes to Brigands. Only the top 50 (with ties) will be shown, or less if there are less than 50 known Brigands above level 30.

ColaFluff's level 120 now
Well seeing as I don't play maple anymore I will stop updating this thread. I only hope that someone will take my place. (Who ever does gets to change the table format. finally. I hated that thing oh and Mr. Basils new tooltip function)

Debating whether or not to change the how I/we organize the tables. I rather like how the damage range section is laid out. Also that huge gap from having a table would be gone...

@LitteTLK I started botting on the last month I've played Maple. It just seemed to continue maple when I bot 3/4 of the time.
