help with Calculus (single variable) How would you find the derivative of f(x) ^ g(x), where f(x) and g(x) are NOT constants, assuming such derivative exists (that is, u(x) = f(x) ^ g(x) is continuous from negative to positive infinity). I know there's a way by using properties of logs. Is there any other way to solve this, using chain rule or whatever? For example, how would you differentiate u(x) = [x^2 + sin(x)] ^cos(x) by hand? Thanks.
